I'm in the market for a deuce but I had some unanswered questions. What were the factory turbo engines that came in these things? Next would be my options for a repower? I'm not looking for a race car; more so a family weekend camping trip worker/hauler. I also plan to run 53 inch tires. Thanks...
Here is a question, can a duce be re powered with a cummins big cam 400? Not trying to hijack the OP's thread. The subject of this thread got my wheels turning.
There are 2 pumps that are used, mechanical and electronic. From my understanding, the military only used the mechanical pumps. So if it's a DB2 pump you should be good to go. There are also things to consider like plunger size. But that is something I don't know enough about to feel comfortable...
250 gallons of fuel @ 350 miles per full payload of fuel, as the TM states. I've gotten 268 gallons of fuel on board and was able to get about 400-425 miles out of it. That was jp8 though.
As for the VGT issues. Convert it to a vacuum unit. VW has been doing this for years. The turbo might not be a VGT turbo to begin with. The LB7 d-max is a nonVGT turbo. They started using VGT turbos on the LLY. The LLY turbo is good for 26psi and that's at the limit of its boost map. With an...
Borla xr-1 straight threw in a 6-18inch length. It's just enough muffler to make it legeal, that's it. When I say it's straight threw, there is nothing inside of it.
Thanks NTD. I got back Dec 22nd. As far as the issues go; that was very close to me physically, emotionally and personally. I'm OK and safe. But have shifted my attention to transitioning to civilian life.
Those could work with some modification. Unfortunately the shape and dimensions are different than the ones you posted. I'm trying to Rember how to replace the stock ones. I shattered one in Afghanistan last year.
That sight glass is made of actual glass. I've shattered a few in my day. I think finding the replacement is the hard part. If your not running the winches I would put a threaded plug in its place. If you have no leaks in the system, and you know how much fluid is supposed to be in there...

All the duramax trucks have a 14 bolt rear and independent front. Also all have a G80 rear end. The most common gear ratio is the 3.73 (rpo code gt5) or 4.10 ( rpo code gt4 I believe). All the Alison transmissions up until 06 were 5 speeds. The emissions weren't in place until 07-08. The LB7 has...
The LLY has the largest turbo out of the duramax engines. The turbo mouth piece from a lbz, ported if you like, or a PPE unit will increase power and effeciency. The valve body out of a 6 speed and a TCM re - flash and it's now a 6 speed trans. The front differential might be cast iron. Some of...
