It's really pixulated. The G80 is built by detroit. It also has a 3.73 gear. Where was it built? What's the engine code? What Alison trans? From there I can give you the info as to how to get the good stuff. Lol
Does the truck have the RPO code sticker in the glove box? It's the white sticker with all the codes, typically 3 letters and numbers, in the glove box. If i could get the codes from that, I could give you all the info on the truck.
The c18 doesn't like to just sit there and idle. its part of the TM to switch the high idle on for any extended idle time. We have CAT and Oshkosh Rep's down here that diagnosed the no start and very hard and slow cranking as hydro - lock due to fuel pooling in the bores.
There are a few stories of guys working them in OTR applications. Have heard about 550-600 horsepower but backed by a 10 speed transmission. NO personal experiencw
Finger stick. But EFI live can also tune out the EGR all together. I personally own an 05 D Max/Allison truck. I have experienced pump rub, and after that I feel fixing it before it shows its ugly head is worth it hands down. I also have the EGR blocked and EGR cooler re - routed, and the PCC...
If it has an LLY motor in it, change the turbo mouth piece out for a LBZ one. worth 2-5 hp and a 2% increase in economy. If it has an over heating issue, look up the RAD Mod V2. Also make the oil cooler remote mounted. With the T-case, look up what pump rub is and its fixes. Just giving you a...
From another forum.
"I have one on a pulling tractor right now... There are two hole plugs on top rear of pump they are removed with a 3/8*allenwrench*open first and move engine stop around until you see screw with lock not (carefully remove the screw and lock nut)... Next, open access hole all...
It's not a problem. I originally was going to come in as a 63, but in MEPS it was found out I was color blinded. And it didn't matter that I was an ASE tech., Nissan PRO-CAP certified, or had a Degree in automotive service technologies. There are some of my fellow operators that I cant stand...
I don't think it's worth trying to turn a 6.X IDI in to a race motor. But it's fun to tinker with. If the parts a cheep or free, I say go for it. All one has to do is read and study the forums out there to find parts that could be sourced from the salvage yard.
I have done this for the diamond...
See, I'm a noob at the mechanical cummins engines. I know the Boshe pumps and the CP3 and 4 pumps. But as far as air goes, I do think I can help out with that.
Cavitation, air in the fuel lines, exc. All of the above fuels are also horrible for injectors, injection pumps, and turbo seals. Not to mention they have less BTU than D2 meaning less power.
The 6.2 and 6.5 motors are both IDI. To much fuel will shoot EGT s through the roof. PAIN also is "dry" meaning it doesn't lubricate or have liquid like propertys. It also burns at a different rate.
Just look and see what dry firing the injectors does to them.
