Could this be the ignition (column) switch?

I replaced the ignition key cylinder last week with a unit from NAPA. Today while I was out I went to start my Blazer and I hear the "No start" >clack< of the starter relay. I, in shock and fear, accidentally turn the key all the way back to the ACC position and try again. It fired right up. I...

Ample ACC power with this unit.

chuck0070 and mtn man, thanks for the additional info. Good wire management and mounting ideas. I am still unhappy with where my AUX Fuse Block sits. I think I'll fab up a bracket to mount it to. The wires are ok though. I guess the difference is that with Warthogs help, I was able to run the...

Another fuse? Okay but there is a fuse on each of the outputs from the relay and the fuse block has a fuse for each accessory it protects. Is the extra fuse to protect the relay only?

quickfarms, Huh? Sorry; but could you explain your comment. I don't quite follow.

Ample ACC power with this unit.

I needed power up my new radio AND CB AND Scanner. In another thread I learned how to get one circuit for the radio; but this left me high-and-dry for the other electronics. Warthog tipped me to a useful add-on and after researching it I was able to put an axillary Fuse Block in near the...

My new ignition switch has an accessory stop but...

cpf240, Could you elaborate a bit more? I have only just discovered the "add-a-fuse" tap. The accessory fuse block you mention is another martian part to me- maybe a proposed diagram or link to the part you mention? Thanks, Ed

My new ignition switch has an accessory stop but...

Thanks gents, Warthog you are The Man. I have been wiring things under dashboards since I was 14 or 15, many many... many moons ago. I hate to feel so dense. But when you recommend that I hook up the piggyback fuse holder to the WIPER Fuse it was a revelation. If I ever knew that there was such...

My new ignition switch has an accessory stop but...

dstang97, What kind of switch? Like a toggle- something that you have to turn ON/OFF manually/ Because this is the same as remembering to turn the radio OFF, no? Why, well I guess I know why the "ACC" switch position would not be wired to work; but how is it different? I replaced the column...

    Ignition Key Position

Please post if you have a solution as how you can get ACC to work. I am still looking for an alternative.

My new ignition switch has an accessory stop but...

So I have the new Key Cylinder in the ignition switch. The next step was to find which terminal in the fuse block would go HOT when the key was turned to "ACC". I tested all probable sites on the fuse block with the key turned to "ACC": All points 1-4 on the picture did not produce power per...

My new ignition switch has an accessory stop but...

I pulled the key cylinder today. It seems to be original from someone's CUCV- I bought it from a guy here a while back- mine was all crusty. It has the CUCV key code stamped on it. Oddly enough, there is a roll pin sticking out of it where the cylinder tab is supposed to by-pass on its way to...

    73Y2 ignition switch

Where/how can I get one that is coded to work off a standard CUCV "B" key? Mine works, but only forward, no ACC stop when turned rearward. I am pretty handy with household/hobby locksmithing; but have looked the cylinder over and can't figure out how to pull the cylinder apart without permanent...

My new ignition switch has an accessory stop but...

Well I figured I could turn the key to the "ON" position and listen to the radio...if I want to burn up the Glow Plugs. I know that the ACC and IGN positions on the fusebox will be useful if the ACC on the key switch can be attained. What I don't know is why the he¢k the key won't turn to...

My new ignition switch has an accessory stop but...

Yep, that's what I though... but the only direction the key switch will turn is ahead toward "RUN" and "START". I cannot turn it rearward toward the "ACC" like I can on my other Chevys. Is there a way to get this working? I don't want to hard wire this to the fuse box and risk a battery drain...

My new ignition switch has an accessory stop but...

The new ignition switch- the one that actually is located under the dash on top of the steering column, has an "accessory" stop; but I can't rotate my key rearward to it. Do M1009s not have this ability. I have a new scanner and CB that I'd like to run in accessory.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Scanner, CB, New Clarion 2 post radio/cassette Bought a CB a while back- still not installed. At the wrecking yard a couple of days ago and found a d@mn nice antenna for it. Bought a new scanner antenna and scanner installed them today. Works great. At the yard today I looked around for a...

    Starter not engaging... I think.

I received a message from another member that asked if I had resolved this issue yet. I hate forgetting to close out a thread. I may have addressed this in another thread; but in a nutshell: The problem was the drive gear on the starter- the clutch seemed to be slipping. I called Wilson, the...

No lights at all except for break lights

86hollis, Hang in there with your truck. I have found that the more problems you have to tackle to fix your truck and get it to operate correctly, the better you will know your ride- this helps immensely when things break down on the trail. Where possible try to get the wiring especially back...
