    28MT replacement starter

I have threads and threads regarding these. For the money, I could not resist. I bought one off the bay from Caltric. It is a chinese middleman from LA area. When I told them the solenoid was likely bad, they said to simply return it on a 1 year warranty. I asked if we could avoid all the heavy...

    flasher stays lit with headlights...

I posted the same inquiry a few months back. Last week I had the cluster out to switch the RED leds back to white. I noticed that the big wiring harness that energizes the cluster had a very short lead and that it had to be pivoted into the cluster connector bottom first. (reverse of how I...

New Starter for CUCV: Should this happen?

etvchicago, I, like many here, have had starter problems with my Blazer. If you review my threads (many :-(), you'll see that I have asked the same questions you are asking. I have bought ebay Chinese starters, found my original (to me) starter was a 12volt Direct Drive, switched it out for a...

    Mitchell Oregon M1009 spotted

I was out that way this weekend, just got back from a drive to the John Day Fossil Beds. Spotted "my car". A Blazer with two rooftop antenna mounts. I was moving too fast to get a pic. I stopped at the Grocery there; but the folks, though friendly, didn't look like the type to entertain...

    Where to put Speakers

4x10 speakers in Ammo Boxes. Holes drilled (1/8") in an oval pattern to create a speaker grille. Self tappers to hold the speaker to the front of the can. Hole drilled in the bottoms to allow speaker cable out. The cans sit behind the front seats on the rear seat platform at either end. The...

What do your neighbors and other drivers think of your CUCV

I don't really give a flying fig what they think. There are always those that come out and let you know what they are thinking. I don't speed through my neighborhood. I have many very wealthy neighbors that have politically correct wheels. Some have top drawer rides and only see mine when they...

chief1983, that is a cool note and an awesome way to introduce yourself. Now they won't be going: "... you know, that 'Army Guy' next door... what the h=!! is that about?" [thumbzup]

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

After installing a Clarion Shaft-style AM/FM/Cassette in the radio slot- removed an old style RCA, I have been bust getting a new alpine DIN style AM/FM/Cassette ready to swap in. I had problems with the belts on the Clarion, so I went with a worm driven Alpine. I have not installed a DIN style...

    instrument panel causing these probs

Just finished doctoring my tired Cluster Circuit "board". Ran down to Radio Shack and bought a Conductive Pen to trace all the circuit traces that were broken or questionable. Pulled the lamp holders and bent the ears out to give them better purchase in the holes. The bulb clamps in each socket...

    instrument panel causing these probs

Thanks boys, I have not replaced the GEN lamps, only the other cluster lamps. I tried tricking it out in RED; but did not get enough light, now I believe that the problem was not the LEDs but the continuity of the circuitry.

    instrument panel causing these probs

I was testing the cluster circuit "board" on the rear of the instrument cluster (on the kitchen table). The rear left turn signal would come on steady with the headlamps. I noticed three things: The bottom most tab that the wiring harness plugs into on the back of the cluster was canted...

Water Temp. Gauge sending unit install issue....

Grega is right. I installed mine the same way. It looks problematic; but it just looks that way. Block it up out of the way the best you can without tearing it up. Install a good gasket and some copper sealant- no sense in dealing with this twice. I noticed mine seem to run around 130°. Over...

    fuse panel replacement?

I hate messing with the OEM fuse block. Greasy junk inside gums all the connectors up- it's kind of like working around Butyl. I think I would look for either another identical box by the stamped on part number- probably in the TM "P" manual. OR get one from a Blazer or Pick-up if they are...

    adding gauges, where to plumb?

corelokt, - Add a temp gauge to supplement the idiot light- it goes in nicely next to the Voltage meter. You'll also need to get GM part 14028949- Cover AY, Cylinder Head. See other threads for this part of the install. Picture of the part and where it goes. Don't know about the other gauges...
