Oh yeah - one more thing -
As some of you already know - I am a 3rd shift security guard at Boeing's everett plant. I have two kids (one's autistic) and a wife that works part time at Jamba Juice... No trust fund, no other form of income.....
The secret is this.... Keep it to yourself...
Thanks for the compliments guys! I am as excited as you all to see the finished project, believe me!
Here's the latest update -
I just got back from a midnight run to Lamar, CO thanks to the great tip from CrashAF. I found many great hemtt parts rigs there and was able to get several items...
Oh, there's no doubt they are great seats. I just think a lot of people are going to see the articulating linkage underneath the seat and think that's the suspension. Truth is that is just the up/down height adjustment. The actual range of the seat is fairly small, and is only the rear...
I agree that hemtt seats are more comfortable, but be aware of one thing about hemtt seats - the back of the bottom cushion is the only moving part of the seat as far as suspension is concerned. You can raise/lower the seat, and you can slide it forward/back, but the actual shock-absorbing...
Allright - I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but since I was asked I'll throw these on, but I'm attaching them to my classified ad as soon as it's approved.
It's a really nice box - anyone interested - $750
I'll take some more pics of the Surplus yard when I get there too.
RE: Re: RE: road trip?
Well, I thought I had some pics on my computer, but I couldn't find any... I'll get some and attach them to my classified ad.
I work security at a Boeing on third shift, so I have plenty of time to burn away the hours on SS... Leaving for Colorado on Sunday night...
RE: road trip?
I talked to John yesterday - I'm making a midnight run on Tuesday from Seattle to Lamar to pickup one of the hemtt beds from him. I LOVE a road trip!!!
Anyone interested in my 1 complete like new ISO 5-ton bed with dropsides and spare tire davit, let me know... I'm not...
I have both styles of hemtt wheels, and I can tell you that on a hemtt the front 4 wheels are opposite side then the rear 4 wheels. That is done on both the lock-ring style and the bolt-together style.
The front axles are slightly wider because of the steering knuckles.
Still looking for one...
RE: Re: RE: Is the transfer case from a M342 the same as an
Yup - it's a big pile of parts now.
The axles are all sold, the engine, transmission, pto, transfercase, and hardtop are all listed for sale here.
If anyone wants any of the minor cab parts (doors, dash/gauges, windshields, etc) let...
I have posted for sale ads for the engine/transmission and transfer case from an M342 Dump truck over in the classified section of Steel Soldiers.
I got a call today from an interested party about the transfer case asking if it was the same as what is in an M35 Deuce.
Anyone have an answer...
I have had a lot of powdercoating done over the years, and am currnetly in the process of powdercoating the cab of my hemtt restoration project.
Powdercoating is basically taking a polyester plastic colored powder and using electrical forces to cause it to temporarily "stick" to a part and then...
I am buying a ring mount from Austin Aviation/hmmwv surplus.

He lives in Marble Falls, Texas, 78654. If anyone going through that area and is eventually headed...
I'm trying to get a wheel from GIJoeCzar, and am looking for anyone heading past him on there way to the Seattle area?
If you are I sure could use some help bringing a single 20" hemtt wheel weighing about 125-150 lbs home to me. I am willing to meet anywhere along the highway that is...
I've had both styles myself too. I prefer modern military vehicles - so naturally I like the push button switch better.
The headlight switch (3-lever) in my Deuce acted up when I first got it, though. I bought another one off Ebay and took apart the old one. What a complicated...
Well - I know My deuce had the pump turned up a little, and maybe my 5-ton was getting tired. I live at the bottom of a very steep and long hill (like 15% grade). My Deuce could rocket up that hill and be gaining speed. My 5-ton (with the original tires) could barely hit 10 mph, and...
It's twice as heavy as a deuce, and twice as slow...
I loved my 5-ton, but that Deuce had some gettiup.. TwinPinion posted some pics of it at a tractor-pull somewhere on here.
I sold my Deuce thinking twice the motor would equal at least similar power in a rig weighting twice as much...
The search tool is your friend.
I have posted the source and part number (as has M1075) several times.
Search for combat wheel o-rings,
You'll find it.
