I think we should pass this on to HURSTSAMX so he can lower it and put some chrome spinner wheels on it. Just imagine how nice it would look with black diamond-tuck velvet interior with red piping and black paint with handfuls of craft glitter thrown in it!!!!
Yoooo hooooo...
I've thought about making the suggestion of a hemtt section or 10ton-up section- as long as it gets some use. I know I've always got something to say about them - being knee deep in restoring one right now.
I don't check GL much, are there hemtts coming out as surplus? I was under the...
Re: RE: Hemett Seats
Let me know how those work out for you, Dan. I wish I had a chance to check out your truck when we met. Right after meeting you we got stuck in a blizzard in the Siskiyous and had to move half the load on the trailer into the back of the truck for traction. We were...
It's a late Christmas for me!!! I got 2 big boxes from Oshkosh today with over 100 lbs. of parts I ordered for the hemtt project.
Here's only a partial idea of what all I ordered, but it was almost $1100 worth of little odds and ends that I was going to want to have looking nice for this...
I'm gonna have 8 for sale VERY soon. I just need to find 2 more bolt together hemtt wheels and 2 more 16-20 xzl tires and someone can put my old 16-20 XL's on lock-ring wheels straight onto their 5-ton.
If you have any interest in these pm me. They are the wheels/tires that are on my hemtt...
I bet this is what he's referring to. It's a private development venture.
Pretty cool use of a hemtt if you ask me.

I think it's a Navy/USMC thing. I believe there was an update package that was installed on the Navy's M800 5-tons and the new style cargo box was part of it.
Guess the USMC got it too. I think they got lockers at the same time.
There are two different styles of 5-ton dropsides. The old style is 14' long and has one 12' long drop panel per side and a short fixed section at the forward end.
The second style is the newer ISO style box that was 15' long and has two lightweight panels on each side. They also have...
It's completely stock. With the cost of diesel and the 2-3 mph this truck gets, that's just fine ;)
Compared to my M35 Deuce and 5-ton, this thing flat moves... Even with the bad transmission slipping in lower gears, it would accelerate much faster then either of my other trucks.
It wasn't suposed to be gloss black, the powdercoating company got my parts mixed up with another guys... They didn't charge me, and promised to be more careful next time. I figured it was okay on the radiator, since the engine is gloss detroit green from the factory too. The fan and...
No, unfortunately it's not. The garage I built at home is the 40' long industrial canvas and steel building that I had to do all the excavating to put up. I live on a .27 acre lot in a nice quite (at least when my trucks aren't running) neighborhood. I did the best I could with what I...
Todays update -
Keep in mind - I work nights (I'm a guard at Boeing in Everett, WA), so everything I do on this truck is during the couple hours I have in the afternoon after I wake up... I wish I had more hours in the day.... Every spare moment I've had over the last few weeks has had to...
Yes - it is a straight shot from the grill in the center of the skidplate (which of course is not on in any of these pics) straight back to the MONSTROUS radiator that sits directly vertical behind the cab and in front of the engine. The radiator goes all the way from the frame rails to the...
Anyone that has ever seen the Baby Hemtt would never confuse it with a Geo Metro!!!
They both would sure look good in a convoy going down the highway, though...
Oh yeah... I don't want to jinx it, ,but August shouldn't be a problem. According to the schedule and budget as of right now - barring any more MAJOR issues, I should b e driving it again in about 2 - 3 months, and spend most of spring and summer fine tuning it...
I think you guys are gonna...
Well - my hemtt restoration is finally getting some traction in the last few weeks.
I've got the new transmission in place and connected with a newly shortened and balanced driveshaft that is a whopping 1.5 foot long... For those of you that don't remember, the transmission I removed was the...
I am getting ready to sandblast the cab of my hemtt in a week or two, and as soon as I get it back from blasting and powdercoating (the interior only) I am gonna want to get some paint on the exterior.
My plan is to spray it with Ospho then give it a good epoxy primer and finally finish it off...
