I have sold the axles from the old M342 I am parting out to a buddy of mine who is building up a BIG offroad rig. He's got BIG power for it, and will be running the 16-20 michelin's on it.
I've browsed throught the tm's but couldn't find axle and transfercase ratios. I think all the Rockwell...
all they are is a 3/4" flanged frame nut with a black oxide coating on it. They really are nothing special.
What's special is the darn valve stems - they are tricky to find and rediculously expensive if you do.
Hmmm..... remember this? I kinda miss the ignorant goof.... We need more of these guys for comedic relief around here once in a while.
I get warm-fuzzies just thinking about how much closer we've all become circling the wagons from this clown...
MIKE!!!! WHERE ARE YOU...
It really depends on the speed you are travelling at. I've seen enough pics of these tires with the sidewalls disintegrated to not run these too low too fast. I'd say you should be running them with at least 50 lbs. UNLESS you need to go lower. Thatway when you do get on the highway...
Better verify they are actually in there before you let too much air out! When I put my 5-ton combat wheels together I gave up the struggle to get those inflexible beasts inside the tires and just left them out. Besides - they work GREAT for setting a wheel on when mounting up the tires...
Hey OSO, did you register it with collector vehicle plates? I know it won't help with the insurance, just wondering. For a $700 per year difference I'd grab a gallon or two of Gillespie 383 and shoot it outside just to get it one color and drive it down to the insurance office. WHo cares...
Aww, shucks..... I just thought it sounded kinda genuine (and kinda pathetic) that the guy would tell about how his pops wrote him off for being a know-it-all, after a total stranger predicted the same thing after reading just a few of his misspelled sentences. You gotta give the guy credit...
Darn it! I was just starting to like Mike...... I guess this shouldn't come as any surprise.
You gotta admit - since you guys broke me of my car-crushing ways we've been lacking a little excitement around here....
I kinda liked it. It was entertaining...
hurstssamx, care to share with us where you are at in this project? Have you found the truck you want to use yet? I am not all that familiar with this truck - what is the going price for one?
Where are you looking? I've found that this site is a great way to get word of rigs that are...
You know what, Mike? You sound, mostly, like a pretty decent guy. Not exactly an english professor, but that's okay. The last guy with letters before his name around here didn't impress me much either. (by the way - I'll NEVER call anyone here Doctor. Period.)
It's true that I (and I'm...
Here's my count so far -
8 typos and at least 10 grammer/capitalization offenses in one big run-on sentence.
Go ahead, give me some more of your homebrew spelling lessons.
Mike- I think where this thread went wrong was that you failed to recognize the depth of the pool you chose to go...
Hmmm.... Any word yet on powering that front axle? Hurstssamx seems to be doing a little duckin' and dodgin' around that question.....
Seriously - Is there any reasonably straightforward way to accomplish that? It would seem to me to be a total waste to do a project like this and delete...
ooohhhhh!!! I just love a good public flaming! :deadhorse:
I've been waiting for one of these since the car-crushing lambasting I took a year ago!
I'm praying to the forum gods for a good healthy outlet for everyone's pent-up wintertime aggressions!
Sadly, it's bound to...
threads about bastardizing nice military trucks don't seem to get much traction 'round these parts.....
Might wanna talk to the guy that owns this truck...
Re: RE: This 8X8 makes a Tatra 813 look small....
Take it from me - Crushing cars with a former military vehicle is both socially unbecoming and just plain bad form.
I used to be one of "those" people before the I was kindly schooled in the ways of goodness and light by the moral-majority...
Man, I sure wish I did. They were 8" x 11" and were mounted inside a great big frame inside his shop. They could have even been actual photographs (anyone remember those? ;) )
It's one of those stories that has to be seen to be appreciated or believed, that's for sure. All I can tell you...
I had a puller made when I did mine, and it was definitely handy. Som eof mine came right off by hand, but some of then took quite a bit of coaxing with the puller to get off.
They are very easy to make.
