I know a guy that did it - and he explained to me how to do it. Here's what I know - although I never got around to doing it to mine - I was planning on it.
The muffler has to be removed from the right side of the motor. He said it didn't make much difference in the noise level anyway. It's...
Okay - I broke the bad news to him that this truck isn't worth $10000.....
We decided to chop this up and go thirds on the proceeds. A third to the owner, a third to the shop for cutting it up, and a third to me for finding buyers and arranging the shipping.
Anything you guys don't want...
Yeah - that's kinda what i was thinking. It really is too bad. I didn't notice the frame modification.... I'm sure it seemed like a great idea at the time :?
Is there any market for the engine/transmission/transfercase?
I think I'll recommend the seperation of the drivetrain and...
This is owned by a customer of the shop that is working on my hemtt. He asked me to try to find out what he could get out of it.
It is not running, but he is willing to get it running (I guess it just needs the basics to get up and running again) if its worth anything.
I told him not to get...
Yup. Syd does great work and he's a consummate perfectionist. He reproduced my front fenders from the rumpled up old ones and they are BEAUTIFUL.
I just got the driveshaft back from the largest and most well-respected driveshaft shop in the area, Driveshafts Northwest after having them...
AREA51 - "I mean, really, only level-headed, sane individuals own a 2 1/2-ton military truck and live in the woods. - John Cappa editor Jp mag. "
That quote was written about me. John Cappa and Christian Hazel from JP magazine came up to my house to buy my M35A2 from me. If anyone wants...
It's a a rare turn that I agree with most of these posts, but I agree with most of these posts....
Having owned a M35 and an M813, I doubt you will be happy with either of these rigs for what you want to do after the initial fun of ownership wears off. Neither will do what you want to do...
No, it's made by Shelterlogic. I think it's pretty solid. We had some 60-70 mph winds last week, and it didn't flap or act any different then a steel pole type building. It's definitely a compromise, but I think it will work very well for what I need. There is plenty of room around the...
Also figured I'd show you all a couple pics of the garage/shelter I put up to restore this hemtt in. Before I could do anything to the truck I had to have 100 yards of dirt removed from my backyard and a elaborate basalt retainingwall/rockery installed. Then they had to landscape around it...
Well, after putting about 200 miles on the hemtt with the old slipping HT740D Allison tranny, I decided it was finally time to get my ass in gear and get the new transmission I got from Bruce Kubu put in.
It took a while to find someone I trusted completely to do the work, but the guy I found...
Yup - flipping the rear hubs was a bit of extra work, but it gave me a good excuse to inspect the rear axle seals/bearings.... And sure enough, two were leaking. As for the looks - well some like it, some don't. Same with lifting the bed.
I heard so much snivelling about how terribly the...
Hey guys - I had such great luck finding a crane controller through you all, maybe you can help me find a good source (re:cheaper then what Grove wants for them - $170 each!) for these holding valves...
Is there a place that parts out cranes?
Check out my classified listing for...
After much searching I finally found a pic of the HET that I saw in a 4x4 mag. I somehow got it in my head that it was a new style HET - now I see that it's not.
Looks pretty cool, though.
I have that data plate on my crane, but it doesn't include any serial numbers. It seems to be more of the weight/capacity spec data.
There must be a smaller plate somewhere that has a serial number on it.
Sorry - When I said "is it the same?" I meant "is the controller the same?". I should have wrote that a little clearer. I noticed the differences you mention - and it definitely seems shorter in the length of the mast, but my concern was is there much likelyhood that the remote controller...
Well - from the looks of that controller I'd say it is either the same, or could be the same with a modest amount of splicing. Here are some pics of the M1089A1 FMTV wrecker crane - it sure looks a lot like my MHC977 Grove. Even the control valves look the same.
What do you all think? Is...
I am searching on my Grove MHC977 telescoping crane for the dataplate with serial# and haven't been able to find it. Anyone out there have any idea where it may be hidden?
Also - I have a wanted-ad posted in the classifieds for anyone that might have some idea where to find the wired-remote...
The link in the post right above yours is to the thread of when I found it. Kinda shows the excitement just finding one for sale generates.
I paid (It's definitely no secret) $26,000 for it in running, but in serious need of transmission, cargo box, front and rear fenders, and LOTS of other...
If I might ask....how did you come across it? I haven't seen any on GL as of yet.
