What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

It was actually a couple of weeks ago, but I installed a VIC-1 system in my truck. I bought it all on eBay. The headphones cool as they may be will not work with the system. However, my CVC helmets will. I have also sourced some nice h-161 headphones. I fabricated the AM-1780 and C-2298...

    Deleting/editing classified threads

Thank you. I just sent off the report for the specific thread. I understand that sometimes privileges have to be suspended due to inattention or abuse, but is there any way that the editing function can stay with OP/seller for the duration of the ad? Again, thank you, Gentlemen.

    Deleting/editing classified threads

I have sold an item and now want to remove the ad from the Parts for Sale forum. However, the edit post icon at the the bottom of the OP no longer exists. This is also problematic when a need arises to edit sale ad content once the ad goes beyond the allotted time period. I have maintained all...

    Deuce Safety

I wish you both a speedy recovery. In addition to the aforementioned, if you are working in the engine compartment, be wary of where you leave your tools. While working on top of the engine on my M818, I stepped out to the right fender and onto an open end wrench. The wrench slipped outward and...

    Ndcc tires

I agree with the G177's. A much better tire by far. You may be able to source those locally to you. I got mine locally, but I don't know if my source is still good for them. PM me if you want their contact info.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I do get a lot of [thumbzup][thumbzup], but I also get some sneers because of the political inclinations of the majority of people in my neck of the woods. I just shine the haters on. Everything on the tailgate with exception of the yellow warning plate and black star are on magnetic backing...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I installed the rear aluminum tail light housings/bezels today. I am short one LED bulb for the stop lamp (on order/in the mail) so I subbed the the right with a 1683 incandescent temporarily to keep it legal. That's funny [thumbzup] I didn't like the cheesy plastic ones and they just look...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I painted the the rear/rear service/spring brake chambers flat black to blend in better with their surroundings. I also added coil spring hose protector on all the rear hoses. In doing so I discovered a hairline cracked 45º street elbow on the left/rear spring brake port. No biggee...easy fix...

    M809-series (M818) Air Brake Retrofit

This is a close up of the push-to-connect air brake fitting tee which delivers secondary service pressure to the spring brake valve control port and then on to the first double check valve. The tractor protection valve and second double check valve are mounted up in the left frame next to the...

    M809-series (M818) Air Brake Retrofit

Well, I'm back for a little thread revival. I finally installed the PP7 trailer supply valve (Haldex equivalent), TP3 tractor protection valve and reincorporated the hand trailer brake control valve. The install included two double check valves (AKA shuttle valves) and all the associated tubing...

Spotted in Marina del Rey, CA

This little gem is parked in the same storage yard as my M818 out here in Maina del Rey on the Los Angeles Westside. Anybody here lay claim to it?

how to plumb a civilian air braked truck to flat tow with brakes like military does

I recently retrofitted my M818 with full air brakes; s-cams on the rear and M939 type wedges on the front. I did plumb the the front gladhands to supply and actuate the brakes. The emergency gladhand was plumbed directly to the wet tank which supplies air for everything on the truck including...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Oh, and started the install of a tractor protection valve, two check valves, a trailer supply valve and associated tubing and fittings. This will fully complete the air brake install once I receive a shipment of some missing fittings.
