actually the Dana 61 was dodges front axle they used not Ford. and as per power through it. that little cv is most likely not as strong as the cv used on a pickup truck. just because the 855 makes a lot of torque it doesn't mean it's being applied to that little shaft. there is not much load on...
the empty box is 10k lbs itself. I have one I pulled off and put on an old wagon running gear and I use it as ATV storage. when stood up on the grab bars you can get quite afew quads or trikes in one.
the one in the pic comes up if you google 5ton m939 CV so it was used for something. I've come across them on other parts dealers websites so they got them surplus
this is what you need. military grade green. lol and it's the same as a ford style cv I was talking about and is sold by Fort Wayne Clutch as seen in the pic...
Haha well if you think about the ford cv's are made by spicer which makes most all manufacturers driveline components as also makes the driveline components in the 5ton trucks so your anti ford comment is in valid.
he is and you don't need to remove that spiral lock ring unless you are replacing the ctis seals. just remove the drum and spindle nuts then it usually takes a pry bar to get it to come free from the spindle.
you only need to remove that lock ring if you are replacing the ctis seals and you do that with the hub off. it has nothing to do with the hub staying on the spindle.
you need to remove the whole seal retainer and then change the seal and then install the brash thrust washer back into the retainer after the seal then put the whole retainer back in. I like to use a little silicone on permatex sealant on the od of the retainer when I put it back in to be sure...
The A2 uses a different seal than the A1 and it likes to hold the hub onto the spindle. After pulling the spindle nuts and outer bearing out just take a bar between the brake shoe and lip of the hub. a little pry and the hub will pop free. be careful when removing the hub the rest of the way...
I agree 100% this guy is a total goof from what a few others said. Made him mad when I said I was gonna use it how I use it regardless what he thinks. lol
There is a guy from Brazil on the 5ton facebook page that has an 813 with an 8.3L. says it was built rebuilt that way by the government for the Marines if I remember correctly.
