That is the same setup that the truck had that we pulled the rears from. Though we have them in a 78 f150 with tractor tires we flipped the front hubs and used the 1.5" spacer from the rear on the front and a hub with no spacer in the rear flipped in and it has the same track width front to...
My buddy is head diesel mechanic at a Ford garage and he saves all the used tranny fluid. He runs it straight is his power stroke. He said he mainly just pumps it through a couple filters before he uses it. Though he only runs it in the summertime not when it's cold out.
The bridge trucks that ran them had a wider rear axle housing and an 1.5" spacer on each hub, the front axle had 3" wheel spacer on each hub to accomplish the use of the 10" wide Budd wheels. I have the front spacers and studs if someone needs a set.
Sorry but that won't work You would have to have the tranny in neutral, OR the tranny in gear and both tires off the ground then one will spin the opposite way if it is NOT locked. If you only had one tire off the ground and the tranny in gear it wouldn't turn unless you had a broken axle or...
My axles are full on 5 ton toploaders but have the factory Rockwell airlockers. It is the same setup as is on M35Tom's 2.5 tons. They didn't come in any military trucks that I know of. These came from a crane. Though most parts are the same as the military 5 ton they use the same hubs...
Ah nice who needs ramps. lol My tractor is a little too big to load on the back. lol New holland TS115A with loader and 84" bucket. But i guess the skid steer would fit.
I have a salvage yard close to me here in Blair County Pa that has a few different MV's rottin away. There may be a few relics worth savin. If anyone is interested hit me up They have quite a few M37's and there is reminant of a half track. They have some M35 parts trucks and not sure of the...
I'm coming into this a little late but a hydro assist is about the best way to get powerful steering and still have road feel. I've built many hydro assist systems for offroad and street trucks and this is a very reliable setup. As per the steering box if you have any type of powersteering box...
I definately like Toms setup. And if I start running my deuce alot more I may consider it too. I thought about Gearharts 5.41 ratio gearest and Toms tranny mod. It would be capable of higher speed IF NEEDED, But I would think with both you could cruise at 65mph even more comfortably as long...
No prob. Lol My avatar is my other toy: 78 Bronco, 5 tons with airlockers, 472ci BB Ford, c6 tranny, 205 transfercase with a deuce case behind it, and 66" monster truck tires. :-D
