That is because the pictures are of cast iron blocks. They are different than the a
luminum blocks. You have to spec an aluminum 353 if you order a gasket. The hard part is finding one. Detroit does not supply the aluminum (Goat) any longer.
Sounds like it's working but I'd be a little concerned that the by-pass is still open and, that much, fluid is not circulating through the radiator. In the pic. you can see the second valve for the by-pass.(Little disc on the right) ,
Also, before you order a rebuild kit, check the block for...
Sure. The special silicone and tubes were for help in preventing erosion at the deck of the aluminum block. The gasket kits come with normal o rings for this purpose. I do not think you'll run it enough to cause erosion if you keep your cooling system clean.
Pulling these engines is not a big...
If it's coming out of the airbox drain it means it has bad liner 0 rings. That's the only way water/coolant can be there, unless there is a crack. Up on the deck there are o rings and fire rings. The aluminum block requires silicone inserts and tubes for the water passages. This is not shown or...

In this picture it's the big pulley with the 1 5/16 nut in the middle, behind the fan, driving the powersteering pump. It's not an easy pull so make the bar long enough and strong enough to take it.
The Civi NHC250 service manual says Barr it over from the accessory drive. Here is what I made at a cost of 0.
Works great for doing overhead as well as any job that needs to turn this beast over.
The bar is 26" long x 1 1/8 wide x 1/2 thick. Socket is a 1 5/16 cut down so that there is 2...
