    1952 XM211

"No Title, No Sale. Unless at scrap value" Stan, you just gave him the best advice ever given here. Scrap yesterday was $165/ton and you have about 6 tons.

M135 in seemingly excellent condition... Good deal?

If it is a good truck that stops and shifts, that is the one to customize. Remember that you can spend a lot just to stop and shift. If you like the style, I say do it. Drawbacks: No power steering, low geared, 130hp, no whistling turbo. On the other hand you can easily swap to a 454 and an...

    My first heavy truck xm215

Ok, I do have an opinion. Id consider waking 2' off the front and adding a headache rack with a gusset to the first stake pocket. If you decide to haul dirt, will the stake pockets fill up? I cannot remember and I'm sitting here in by BVDs so I'm not giong out to look. It is -5 degrees and I'm...

    My first heavy truck xm215

What do you plan to use for a tailgate? The M211 may be too weak in my opinion. Are you going to add side boards and a taller tailgate like the original? What about the headache rack? I don't have an opinion, just wondering how these answers may impact which end to modify. It may get really easy...

    Paint questions

Stay away from the obnoxious solid colors. I have the corner on that right now. Seriously, I like the Canadian 3 color, but give it an US pattern. The black areas are just too big. Two greens and a little less black would be perfect. I have not seen anyone go with a digital pattern. Start...

    XM215 bed options

Well then the M211 bed is a reasonable choice! Good luck and keep us posted. Edit: I just looked at your previous posts. That thing sounds great and looks tough! How hard would it be to modify/make/repair what you have? I'd be tempted to plasma the thing down to its base structure and...

    First '52 XM211

I guess so, the temp came up to 11 yesterday. May hit 20 today. I took 2 better front fenders in to be blasted Friday. It is amazing what a guy forgets he has stuffed in a shed. I'm gonna have to take the top off so I can get the truck inside.

GMC M211 muffler and exhaust build

I have a new idea. I had ordered a special Donaldson muffler back in November. It still is on back order, so I cancelled it. I just purchased a Walker 21324 for $67 on ebay. It is a super quiet 24" long muffler with the inlet and outlet on the same end. I will add 2 elbows and flanges. It will...

New from Winnemucca NV...1952 M135CDN Restoration project

It is not too bad. The 10 wheels make all the difference. I'd say the 211 is like very easy to get around on logging roads. The 220 is not bad either. It is not weighted down with a lot of heavy things inside. It is maybe like hauling a load of wood in a half ton chevy, you realize it is there...

New from Winnemucca NV...1952 M135CDN Restoration project

Both mine have good power if you wind them up tight. They hold 55-58 mph most hills. They do not do well at lower speeds or lower rpms. The empty 211 is ok, but the M220 is sluggish from the weight. I can tell the high rpm is tough on it so I keep it a little slower. I drove my shop van home...

    1008 Brush Truck

Tires are Super Swamper Boggers 33x15.50x16.5. Bumbers are 3x6x1/4 tube with flame cut tow loops built in. We trimmed the bottom corners of the wheel wells for the tires rather than lift the truck. Emergency lights are in grill strobes and in taillights. We don't worrk about the "race" to get...

    1008 Brush Truck

I suppose you guys have seen it all, but here are some pics of the brush truck a built for our FD a while ago. We had an M38a1 and a M715, but both had weak brakes and poor traction. We live in the Driftless area in western Wisconsin so the woodland is very steep. Our fires are mostly early...

    The unofficial g749 picture thread

holly scrap! I just did the math. The chase truck put on 3,800 miles! when gas was $4 a gallon, 15mpg, 253 gallons, $1,012 in gas for the chase truck, motels, meals, 1 radiator, 2 fuel pumps, $100 on plumbing, days off of work, $520 on gas for the deuce, and a new walmart boat gas tank strapped...
