Here are the photos from my trip to Custer SD this fall. Met up with brother Jim (hndrsonj) and uncle Gene (Maccus). Sister and kids came too. Boys and I slept in Gene's camper. 5 ton tractor with a 109 box on the back. slept great for 3 days. He has a good setup.
Thanks Gene!
Best part was...
Gee Stan, I wish you would have posted this earlier this summer. I probably would have put more that 4 miles on my truck this summer in 100' trips.
By the way mine had one on the top fitting and one on the bottom fitting. If it had only 1, I would have had 200' trips.
I got this PM from a super secret SS member:
I am on the hunt too for a muffler and stack for my m221. Seems there is a renewed interest in these trucks.
Below are the "specs" for the muffler:
Overall Length29.125 inches nominal
Overall Height10.125 inches nominal
Overall Width6.125...
This is a thread dedicated to the G749 series muffler. My goal is to collect data and then produce a decent replica of a factory muffler that can be made with common tools found around the shop.
I have one good muffler that Maccus (A great guy) picked up from a great guy in South Dakota. I...
Does any one have a picture of the "guts" of the muffler?
I'm wondering if it has preforated baffles or perforated pipe inside.
This looks like something I can make myself and do a build thread on. I have found a source for some of the internal components. I can cut the end caps out with a...
I'm not proud of this, but there are my "Yard Mufflers." The goal is only to keep the neighbors from getting mad at me. I suppose you could place a muffler next to the trans (add a heat shield) if you had to run it for any length of time.
The real benefit is I now know how bad my exhaust...
Oh, this sounds like a challenge! Yes it does.
Are your pipes good?
What is your ultimate goal?
If you don't have a winch, insert a muffler inside the driver's step.
I think most of us are in the same boat here.
I'd be rethinking the adding Vinegar/water part. It will collect in the lowest spot- the 12 wheel cylinders. Remember the bleeders are at the top of the cylinders. I would cracl the bleeders open and see what comes out 3 or 5. Add a couple drops of water into your catch container. 3 will absorb...
I just took another one apart. Obvious differences in bleed back hole sizes. I assume this is the problem. The screw heads were buggered up on the bad one. This leads me to think someone was in here and did some work on the pump. I did see there is an early and a late fuel shutoff. I seem to...
First test run did not go so good. I have been struggling with fuel delivery issues ever since I got it. The ONLY way it runs good is off a boat gas tank in the front seat and an electric inline fuel pump.
I've had the pump out of the tank probably 30 times. She still runs out of gas with a...
I found one out in the west end of South Dakota this summer while on vacation. Actually MACCUS found it for me. Looks rock solid. He even took it off and paid for it! :D Can't ask for a better uncle.
Now I have to have the pipes bent.
That is exactly the way it should have been handled. My hat is off to them. I was hoping you were not going to take it in the mouth. Glat it is working out.
Nice looking thrick Robert! How about a few more pics? It actually has a nice look without the bumper. I can picture a custom front bumper tucked in real tight on a bobber. With the nice curves it almost is a shame to put that square box on the back of it.
I believe the gear ratio is 6.17 if I remember correctly. There is not a lot of room for different gears. That is a big diameter ring gear and a small diameter pinion. I don't believe there is much back spacing on the carrier flange for a big pinion gear. The ring gear cannot get to be larger in...
And it sloughs right off when you spill gas on it.
I've slept in it better than 20 times this summer. That is where I'm going tonight. The breeze goes throught when you open all the windows. It got down to 28 F the other night and I had to turn on my electric heater. Got so hot I had to open a...
