I drove Red out today. 2 new wheel cylinders on the left rear this afternoon.
Repaired the muffler, welded the bracket back on. Drives like a race car compared to Yellow. The wheel bearings were very dry. Oil had entered and exited with the grease. the seal in the keyway was wiped out. It took...
Welcome!
It is nice to see some new trucks. Couple of new batteries, maybe drain some fuel and add new, top off the brake fluid and see if she fires!
I see it was a fire truck once. What modifications did they make? Those guys always know someone with an eager torch and a stick welder.
I...
Welcome!
Does it run and shift ok? If so, I would head right into the brakes first. Safety, safety, safety. In my opinion the biggest expense and can be a lot of work. I've seen too many guys start on cool stuff and burn out or run out of cash at this point.
Also what size tires are on this...
Try Alfa Heaven in Aniwa WI. I have one, but I won't give it up. Sorry
I believe Aniwa is closer to you than Iola is. Sounds like they have MANY trucks and parts form sale.
I agree with CamoYJ7. The weight is a concern. My cargo truck is a hoot to drive, the camper is not. My van body is a little small and handles like a BlueBird school bus from the 70s. I would not cut it down.
Have you thought about an extended cab?
That is exactly why my shop van is licensed as a 20,000lb RV and the M211 is not licensed.
I'd check with my local state patrol before you get to taking it apart. There is that thing called the "intenet" of the law. You may be asking for being charged with submitting falsified documents...
For $800 I would buy it...if it were closer.
That is the problem you will run into. I have 2 parts trucks. Everyone either wants the same parts I bought it for, or it costs too much to ship the big parts.
Front springs make great bobber kits.
Non-running trucks with unproven transmissions...
I have to ask, Why 10,000?
Bob it, toss the troop seats, throw the spare tire carrier, clevices and mounts, bumperetts, pintle hitch, and add an aluminum bed.
You could convert to 12 volt and get rid of 1 battery and replace the generator with a GM 1 wire alternator.
Someone certainly did something right in your life. It may not be "storybook" but you are fortunate to be the kind of person you are. I'm impressed with what I see. Hope you both take time to listen to each other. I wish you well.
I'm gonna get back to Alice Cooper and off this computer for a...
I hear ya on the gas tank. I drained one pulled it apart Thursday. It got a little humid air and was brown and fuzzy in the bottom by the next morning. I have to figure out some way to coat them at a reasonabe cost. Test your fuel pumps before you get too far. I talked with several owners in...
To Dataplates.net:
I'm not up to date on the technology you use to make data plates. How are they made? How difficult is it to make a "close" representation? Is there setup charge? What quantities do you need to produce for this to be worth your time?
From my perspective, I'm not looking...
I have a friend who has a body shop. He loves the whitetail rut and ice storms.
Anyway, If you watch Craigslist you can find a good deal on tires. Usually guys bobbing trucks will try to sell them. they are hard to sell up here as they are horrible in the snow and most trucks run 22.5 tires now...
