Good luck on the recovery and keep us posted. Sorry I couldn't help but the week before Veteran's day is usually pretty busy. I would say if you think you and the truck are up to it, come down to Auburn on Saturday Nov. 9 for the Veteran's Day parade. I would caution that we will be forming...
What a deal on the batteries. Mine are 06 and 07. As for your lights, it may be as simple as having the lower left hand switch of the 3 lever light switch in the wrong position. If it is incorrect, you won't have any lights or you will be in blackout mode. If you have the electronic switch...
Mine has recessed letters, so was considering the sharpie idea. Too busy at work and no time to play. Have you done any oiling to your air system on the M923? It is an old trick on the M54 to add a touch of oil to the airline to lube the airpack. Was wondering about a touch of machine oil to...
It will be nice that you can read the words above the indicators. Am trying to figure out how I can highlight the words on the indicator and dash of the desert painted truck. The paint is rough enough that I can't paint and wipe them off. Have been working on the outside of the truck doing...
Got a note from the Parade people and we will be lining up on "I" St. SE. Registration starts at 0930. i would recommend being there by 0900. If you remember last year we had some issues with groups that were numerically challenged. They couldn't understand that if they had a higher number...
M923 - lubed the door windows and moved the mirror support frame out a bit. Where they had it set up, it would nick the paint on the doors, so have two rusty spots where they hit. It was nice opening up the doors to get to the window tracks and finding nice clean bright green. It looks like...
Like Jason in post 16, I played with the old rubber and the metal collar to make this new style pump fit in the place of the old pump. Ended up putting a larger connector on the existing ground wire and put it on the post that the cut off ground wire is on. Sealed the top and dropped it in the...
Like the Chaplain said, take a look at Historic vehicle insurance or collector vehicle. My vehicles have been insured through one of the major collector vehicle companies for several years at a reasonable rate. Fortunately haven't had to use them, but they are there just in case.
I have a 1984 M923 and am diligently waiting till January to go have a serious talk with the licensing folks. Will be shooting for a collector plate at that time. I am trying to be patient and work on some minor details with the truck, until that time. I deal with a small license place her in...
If you have an M923A2, what is the year of manufacture? Probably about 1990? In 2020 if the rules don't change, you will be able to register it as a collector vehicle. It is a 30 year wait, with certain restrictions. I have registered 6 or 7 MV's this way over the years. Until then you are...
MRAP Trainer
Here are a couple of pictures of one of the MRAP Trainers at JBLM during the last Armed Forces Day. It clearly is marked for training puposes only. Still a cool truck.
Would like to talk with you about the cab guard and the 2 small side pieces. I have a 923 with an earlier wooden cab guard. PM me please.
Also where does it say they won't license a vehicle newer than 1983 as historic? I thought the rule was 30 years old, which would put the 83 in this year...
There was one that went on GL a little while back. It was a trainer MRAP base on an M923 frame. the bid price was 99,500. So maybe someone picked up a cheaper one. Or they went to Afghanistan and bought some of the ones they are cutting up for scrap.
