    Wrecker Oil Can Bracket

Thanks! I was also interested to see the field chock mounts on the boom. I'm considering moving my chocks up to the boom to get them off the deck, too. Are the bottoms bolted to those front mounts, are are the visible bolts just pins that holes in the spades fit over? How are the tops of the...

    Wrecker Oil Can Bracket

Here's the mount on my M543A2. My M936A1 just has some rusty residue from the bracket. I could have stolen the bracket off the M543A2 for it, but since I didn't get around to doing that before making a deal to sell the M543A2, I guess its new owner gets to keep the bracket!

    Wrecker welding tanks/bottles

I thought my M936A1 might be set up for different bottle diameters than my M543A2, but I was mistaken. Both appear to want an oxygen bottle around 8" diameter, and an acetylene bottle around 12" diameter. Here are the mounts on the M543A2: Here are the mounts on the M936A1:

Rebuilding Hydraulic Motor on my M936A1

Well, it's been a rough morning! One of my doggies had a seizure, so I rushed her in to the vet. She's doing ok now, but they're keeping her today for observation. So here I am posting to keep my mind occupied! If all goes well, she should be coming home this evening, and hopefully the blood...

    Wrecker welding tanks/bottles

I just peeked at my M936A1, and there are some scuffs of yellow paint on the CARC in the area where the acetylene bottle goes. So it looks like mine has had a yellow bottle clamped in there. There's also a rust ring which looks like it came from a smaller diameter bottle than the bracket is...

HD Motor on Hoist leaking (M936)

Besides fixing the motor seal, I think you'll want to get that side cover off the gearbox to clean it out. I found that quite a bit of gear oil remains down in the square bottom of the gearbox after draining from the drain plug on the round portion, and your gear oil is mixed with hydraulic oil...

How about using it in a 6.2?

Rebuilding Hydraulic Motor on my M936A1

AHA! The hoist motor on my M543A2 is not the same as the one on my M936A1. I wouldn't be surprised if they can be swapped as complete units without any problems, but their internal parts may not be the same. The external castings are clearly different. The beds are very similar, but not...

Rebuilding Hydraulic Motor on my M936A1

Dang it, now I need to go outside with a flashlight to climb on my M543A2 and take a close look at its hoist motor.

HD Motor on Hoist leaking (M936)

It looks like you may also be leaking a small amount of gear oil out of the oil seal under the small round plate in the side of the gear box. You probably already saw it, but I just posted some details about the seal in my very similar thread. I would have tacked on to your thread instead of...

Rebuilding Hydraulic Motor on my M936A1

Thanks! I think I can read the plate well enough, and your motor looks like it's the same as mine (see attached pictures). Mine doesn't seem to be leaking into the gearbox, but it's leaking hydraulic fluid externally. My gearbox is also leaking gear oil, so I'm servicing its seals. Between...

    Wrecker welding tanks/bottles

I see that one of the markings is "NON SHAT". If I'm not mistaken, there's similar marking on a breathing oxygen bottle that a warbird collector friend gave me out of his T-28B. It's wrapped in steel wire to prevent the bottle from grenade-like shattering if it's damaged. He gave it to me...

Rebuilding Hydraulic Motor on my M936A1

Getting the info off the dataplate will probably be difficult. It's thickly painted with at least one layer of CARC. If I remember, I'll take some pictures when I can and share them here, in case somebody reading the thread has an identical motor on their truck with a readable dataplate. I may...

    Wrecker welding tanks/bottles

I would really appreciate it if you would share pictures and dimensions in this thread. I'll go ahead and measure/photograph the mounts on both of my wreckers just to capture the differences here for posterity. I can probably measure by flashlight tonight, but the photos may need to wait. I...

I can measure and photograph the mounting spots on both of my wreckers if it would help.

    Wrecker welding tanks/bottles

I can't answer your questions, but I have similar ones of my own. I noticed that the welding tank mounts on my M936A1 are different than the ones on my M543A2, but I do not yet know if they are made for different sized bottles. I also tried getting some proper bottles for my M543A2 at Airgas...
