Upon further examination, my new M936A1 doesn't light up the ABS light briefly at turn-on time, and at least one of the fuses is pulled out. Hmm... it may turn out that I need to use my diagnostic box after all. Off to the TMs to learn some more before I start working on it!

I think that the crane is different on the M108. If my memory serves me right, doesn't it have a longer boom with both hydraulic and manual extensions? I'm wondering out loud here... would an Allison repair shop be likely to have equipment that would let them do a better job of flushing out the 10 weight oil and replacing it with ATF than the way I'd do it myself with the repeated drain/fill/drive method? I haven't flushed my M923 transmission...
