Thanks for the link to your headlight thread, clinto!
I found a picture of the mounted light in this post in Mike's big thread:

Those look like a pretty good option, so I may order a pair of them and...
Cool. Did you bolt them straight to the truck, or were you able to find brackets that take advantage of the curved washer to let the lights be aimed up/down a bit?
Time for me to go check out your big M923 thread to see if I missed any pictures showing your backup lights...
After some further consideration, I think that those route clearance lamps are a bit too ginormous for what I want in this application. Here's another option I'm thinking about now:
These are lamps with about 4" diameter lenses. They look to me like they use the same housing as the IR driving...
Thank you!
Ow! You have my most sincere condolences on the kidney stone! I had one encounter with them, and ended up passing eleven of them, with the biggest one at around 2mm. They were the smooth gravel-like variety, and not big enough to need anything more than lots of water and pain pills...
Congratulations!
I'm going to be getting an M936A1 in a few weeks when my EUC clears. How did your truck cruise on the highways? I have only driven wreckers at low speed off road so far.
I have to get ready for work now, but your new project definitely interests me! I'll be thinking about it, and maybe I will be able to offer some useful suggestions. [thumbzup]
I think I saw some notice in the reams of GL fine print about CA's impending requirement to add particulate filters or swap out engines. It's my understanding that registering as a Historical Vehicle provides and exemption to that.
Congratulations on the MK48 in any case! Whether you end up...
I'm not at all interested in truck-bobbing, but I am intrigued by that AC installation. I would be grateful if you took some pictures of other parts of the system so we could see how it was done. [thumbzup]
Yes, I was asking about the hydraulic pressure. Both the desirable pressure at which it turns on for proper operation of the lights, and the maximum pressure that the switch must withstand without damage or leaking.
I should be getting the backup camera system sometime this afternoon, by the way.
I found an Allison manual for the MT600 series online recently that said there should be a plugged 1/8" NPT port on the right side next to the dataplate, where a pressure switch can be installed for reverse gear sensing. I haven't looked for it on my truck yet, but I might get around to that...
Great idea! [thumbzup]
I was thinking along the lines of putting a knuckleboom on my M923. After unsuccessfully looking for suitable knucklebooms that didn't cost 3x what I paid for the truck, I got frustrated and bid on my new M936A1 on GL (waiting on EUC clearance now). So that has me back...
My -10 TM states that the crane on my new M936A1 will rotate 360 degrees. My M543A2 crane only rotates about 270 degrees. Does the M936A1 crane lack the stops that the M543A2 has to limit rotation? And if so, can it spin all the way around without anything getting hung up?
I don't suppose...
That pictured shelter also doesn't appear to be set up to be moved by any kind of shelter dolly at all, even the ones used with various non-ISO commo shelters. So, it'd strictly be moved by crane with a sling attached to the top lifting rings, or mounted on the back of a truck or flatbed...
Here's hoping for a speedy and painless repair!
In my rural dirt-road neighborhood, the garbage truck drivers have taken out street signs several times. I guess it's not surprising that garbage truck induced damage happens a lot. Lots of big trucks maneuvering in tight spots everywhere every...
Cool!
I sold one of those crane control boxes to somebody a while back. Was that you? If so, I'm especially glad to see it doing its thing! I had bought the control on eBay with thoughts of using it to retrofit a remote control to my M543A2. I never got around to doing that, but now I'm...
