Here are a couple of photos from today. 1st Sgt Gifford and Mike Edridge (New Zealand). They were doing some final packing. You will note in one picture, the 1st Sgt. giving directions to the troops. Mike got a kick out of the size of the CCKW when the M54 pulled up. They thought they were...
I met Mike from New Zealand at 1st Sgt. Giffords, yesterday. He arrived on Tuesday. They have the CCKW mostly loaded and are planning on leaving Olympia, WA at 0700 Sunday morning.
Special thanks to Aaron and Amber, with Wayne on the grill. Also special consideration to Dale on the T-shirts. What a great job.
Here is installment two on the pictures. Hopefully this will show some of the variety of vehicles that were in attendance. These show both in the field behind...
Does it make a difference if you attach the pictures?:( I counted 38 vehicles at Aaron's and Amber's at one time, so overall there were probably about 45 vehicles attending over the course of the weekend. We had 33 in the parade and 23 on the cross country tour and dust bowl. :D
Also Aug. 25-26 will be the Toledo Threshing Bee. They have in the past allowed us free entry by bringing an historic vehicle. They have a place to park the vintage vehicles where the public can view them, there is a swap meet in conjunction with this as well. Plus lots of old tractors and...
It does not seem to be on the air, but Aug. 17-19 will be a joint operation between the Oregon Military Vehicle Collectors Club and the Friends of Willie and Joe at Ft. Stevens. There will be MV's and historical displays for this one. Camping is also involved, but you will need to be...
Sounds like Ed has a keeper there. she likes green and she is mean too! Break down photos, that's cold. :-D
I thought I had wrecker Ray for the litterbug award, then when we stopped on the cross country jaunt, the temporary data plate that I put on the truck was missing, so me too. :(
What a...
There was somewhere in the vicinity of 22 - 25 vehicles on site this evening when I left.
Get there if you are able. It will be quite a show in the parade. :D
Mike, if we were really cagey, he could drive my M715. It is original and is a 9th Division truck. It was attached to the 9th Med. Bn of the 9th Div. It is a 67.
1st Sgt. Gifford called this evening and asked if he could borrow the M38A1 and tag along for the parade on Saturday. I said of course, so will probably have the 38A1 and M54 along for this event on Saturday. Hope to get down tomorrow afternoon or earlier depending on work. Thought I would...
The pictured tent is a M1942 Small Wall tent and if you have a stash of those, I would be interested in a couple as well. The majority of them, that I have seen, seem to have been made in 1942 and they were out of the tent manual in the early 60's.
I put the pictures in to show the various...
Special Thanks to Bill and Jeff High for organizing this event. While they must have had headaches, from my point of view it went seamlessly and well. At least for all the things they could control. Thank you and mission accomplished.
Here are a few photos from the event. Sorry I didn't...
