I bought my M54 3 years ago. 3 years before that, the city put 2600 dollars in brakes, bearings, airpack, and mastercylinder. I have the reciepts. They switched to DOT 3 from 5. Every wheel cylinder was rusty. They were all new. Was able to hone a couple, but decided it was easier to put...
Loco why would switch from DOT 5 to DOT 3? Sounds like you are on a good track, take your time and if it needs fixed, do it. You will be happier when you are done.
Nice find on the batteries. Mine seem to be in pretty good shape, but I guess you never know when they will tweak out. The batteries in my 2001 Dodge civy truck are the originals and they still seem to be working fine. but I am feeling nervous. Maybe it has to do with having two batteries...
If you want to build an A frame, go ahead. But if you have a long plank or two, make a ramp, afix a come along to the front of the bed, and winch that sucker up into the back. Or take one of your winch equiped trucks, put a snatch block in the other truck, and hit the winch, it will slide up...
Just when I get lazy about looking at CL. my son lives in BHam going to Western. He could have tied the deal up for us.
All I see are the jeeps that are thousands that need thousands more to make them habitable again.
No problem, will get you a few more when I quit goofing off. Am preping for next weekend.
We are doing Vietnam at the base of the tower. You could probably come along as a Russian advisor to the North. :) Have not done this impression in a long time so have to dig out stuff.
If you don't have a particular area picked out to display your 715, we have a Vietnam display going on the north side of the base of the temporary tower. We will have an M151, M38A1 and someone is bringing a PBR.
I found out that my 715 is 4 inches too wide for the car trailer that I have and...
Mike, I have a small roll around engine puller that would probably work great for your project. You are welcome to use it. I think it is rated for 2000. P
Elk, the Arlington event is next weekend, but people were setting tents yesterday and there will be people on site all week. Looks to be a great event. Jeff and Bill High and the Puget Sound club have done a great job of laying the event out . People were already hauling vehicles in as well...
Well if you haven't had the hardtop off any of your trucks, I can highly recommend that project. Took mine off a couple days ago and my guess is that it hasn't been off since rebuild about 25 years ago. This evidenced by the severity of the rusted bolts. It is insulated on the inside with...
Sorry forgot to give a note about the jeep picture with the 3 ladies. The driver is Mary Kallenberger. She was a Medic with the 1 Med. Bn 65-67. The lady in the blue suit is Eva Hauck, she was a Rosie the riveter and worked on B-29 parts at the Chehalis WA plant during the war. And the other...
Mission Accomplished. Thank you to all that turned out to make this a great event. The event folks really like what we add to their event and have us down as a standing invitation.
We had about 15 people and 11 vehicles at the park. Vehicles included and M151, 4 - WW2 jeeps, a Chevrolet 1...
Jeff, I will come up and help. When you said implements of destruction, did you mean hammers and sledges? What else might be appropriate. I can't be there till Friday afternoon, but if someone will keep an eye on it, could bring up the M38A1. See you tomorrow.
Hang in there with the tires and wheels. If you get one everytwo days, you will have it with time to spare.
I too have the gremlins today. The M38A1 developed a noise yesterday causing it to be redlined for the parade. It ended up be a loose nut on the crankshaft pulley. No not behind the...
That is an interesting solution. Someone will probably beat me, but I put it in low gear, set the ebrake, and put a bar through the yoke of the rear drive line. There was plenty of resistence to set the pulley nut.
Then I was on such a roll, jumped on taking the hard top off the 5 ton that had...
Thanks for the tips. I hoped there was something easier than the flywheel trick but was about ready to go with it. May try option 2 first.
Of course you forgot the one about pulling the plugs and pouring water in the holes, then putting the plugs back in to give it a hydrostatic lock. :)...
