Generally the 939 with no arms nor armor is controlled but not restricted, so yes it an be exported.

The last two clamp samples are what I was mentioning. They look to be easily made of plate steel and hinge rod. They are certainly robust! That is what I'd make as mounting solution and fun small project!

I too remember a fellow who fabricated a set of beutific brackets for the front of his deuce. The brackets were double half circles that hinged like a clam shell. He had a winch truck and mounted them above the fairlead. But the same could be set up for a WO/W truck.

20 minutes of honing on a cylinder sounds excessive. But I'd do as you are doing and give them a try.
x2 on the bearing preload. On used bearings I set them at zero lash without worries or issues.

By reading your replies, it occurs to me that you may have already inspected the trailer plug and found a wire entering the trailer plug at position "k"? If so, please let me know what you find when you do that trace.
