I shoot mostly digital now 'cuz it's quicker and "okay" in the quality department. I still have several 35mm cameras, though. There are some shots I can get with a 35mm/300mm telephoto that my digital cams can't get. "Old school" still has a lot of life in it yet. Our trucks are fine...
I got a chance to ride one when stationed in Germany while its owner rode my Ardie w/mortar launcher. In my experience, they don't turn worth a hoot! Too quick and jerky. They feel like a top-heavy trike that's threatening to turn over in every corner. They dont, actually...just feel like...
'Tis the season. I guess! The roadside scenery just keeps getting better. In addition to the deuce, I spotted 3 HMMVWs and an MRAP in convoy. Looked like they might be headed for Ft. Gordon. :)
I was westbound on I20 about 12:00 noon enroute from my latest hospital appointment in Augusta. At mile marker 184, I saw a civvy tractor with a lowboy hauling a well-used M35 on the eastbound side. Looked like it might be being delivered to a new owner somewhere. Was it for anyone here?
Thanks for the offer to "come and get it," Lance. Unfortunately, it is still official government property. It is only on loan from the Army for public display by the Legion. I'm afraid your wife will have to keep shopping! :(
Does anyone know anything about the 170mm (5 inch) "Sky Sweeper" radar guided anti-aircraft gun? Of particular interest is how to transport it. My Legion post has one sited at our old Post HQ and we would like to move it to our new HQ building. Thanks for any help you can offer. :)
Usually (but not "always"), a vehicle stayed with the unit it was originally sent to and remained one of the unit's mobility assets for its entire serviceable life. Occasionally, a unit might be inactivated and its assets were dispersed to other units where they continued to serve until worn out...
I also used to drive a B61 Mack with the 20-speed quadraplex twin-stick trans. I got pretty good at it. I used to get a kick out of watching the newbies go through all 20 gears when when the truck was empty. Guess they were just "practicing," huh? 'course it's kinda funny that they usually...
Math1960: I like your avatar! I finished up my Air Force career at Offutt, and if that patch applies anywhere, that is the place! It didn't take much to find yourself in the position illustrated! Can you send me one of those patches???
That air ratchet in the last pic is a wonderful little tool, isn't it? Saves untold time, not to mention wear and tear on the knuckles! One of the best tools I ever bought. :)
I seriously doubt that they would "tag" the engine for only a paint job. The fresh paint and brand new belts, coupled with the tag, suggest to me that your engine was given a depot-level overhaul in 2006. If so, the insides of the engine are pretty "new." :)
I think that the "Requirements for New Members" thread should be locked and contain ONLY the requirements for new (and current) members of the forum. I, for one, check this thread now and then to see if there have been any additions or changes to the rules, but find it rather tedious because of...
