    5 ton race truck

"Ooooh! Look! He's makin' a left turn! Ooooh! Look! He's makin' another left turn!" (Jeff Dunham's "Peanut" describing NASCAR)

*** New Feature - PM Auto Prune

Works for me! I've only got one PM "saved" in my own in box, but I can see how the system could get bogged down over time.

    My Mule Rides to Georgia

Agreed on the "skills" part! :) As for the offset steering wheel, "ya get used to it."

    Webpage for our rides

I like 'em ALL! I really like the WC-1, the Chevy 1.5 ton, and the M151.

    Military Fire Trucks

It is NOT a Dodge. It is NOT a REO or Studebaker, either. The data plate clearly identifies it as an AM General.

    Side board question.

The side boards actually go on the inside. This prevents the posts from getting in the way when stacking cargo.

    Stryker's VW

Musta been her driving! ;) I had several of them in the early years of my marriage and ran 'em at highway speeds all the time. They would do 70 on the interstate all day long and never gave me a problem, handling-wise.

    sustained top speed

In my own experience, each truck is different, but all of them should be able to run 55 mph for extended periods of time if everything is in good shape and if your butt and back can withstand the pounding they're going to take. ;)

School me... what tool to open rear diff?

An impact wrench works pretty good, too, if they're stuck. Got several "impossible" plugs out that way.

    Project: MB

It's looking better, but nobody will ever mistake it for a military vehicle with that paint job. ;)

    8,620 lbs of gravel

Getting back to "load capacity," I once hauled 3 1/2 tons (7,000 lbs) of reject limestone from the quarry where I worked to my dad's house, 60 miles away, with a 1941 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup. The truck handled the load okay. The tires did not! The old 6-ply tires I started out with on the rear...

    Guys I neeed help

Go to g741.org for all the info you'll ever need. This site is a forum dedicated to the M37 and its variants. If you need parts, advice, or just someone to talk to, you'll find it there. They're a great bunch of folks, and several of us watch this site, too. Come on over and pay us a visit...

    Late 60's W200 Trucks ?

The Air Force used 'em for a very long time. They were referred to as "six pax" by the motor pool and as "6-packs" by the people who used 'em. We did use the 4WD version as tactical vehicles, too, if you count transporting personnel and supplies to remote missile launch facilities as...

    My Non-Mil Army Jeep...

It's been "done" officially, too. When I was in a TAC unit in SC (back in '81), we had several militarized CJ-7s which were being evaluated as replacements for our M151s. Most of us preferred the M151s. The CJs just had too high a center of gravity for our liking.

    M101A1 sp-97 California DMV

I can't help you with the information you're looking for, but I'd like to point out a minor error in your post. There's no such thing as an SP-97. It's an SF-97. "SF" is the abbreviation for "Standard Form."

    New Guy from Illinois

I was also in Illinois (was being the operative word). I'm currently at my daughter's place in Lavonia, GA. I cou7ldn't deal with any more of that Illinois winter. Guess what? Got up this morning to 6" of very wet snow and everything is shut down. They just don't have snow removal equipment...

Who has the oldest military Vehicle on SS

Nice bike, Wolf! When I was stationed at Rhein-Main AB (Frankfurt), I had a 1945 Ardie 250cc Wehrmacht bike. I was going to bring it back to the States with me, but one of my German friends made me an offer that I couldn't refuse.

Dual wheels on front of a deuce

The voice of experience has spoken! Danke schoen, Wolf. :)

Dual wheels on front of a deuce

It would be easy enough to do. You'd just use the same inner/outer lug nuts that you use on the rear. It will add strain on the steering components, though, and make it noticeably harder to steer on pavement.

Dual wheels on front of a deuce

I suspect that's because the owner/restorer of this beautiful truck happens to be English and lives in England. He has as much right to be patriotic as we do. If he went to the trouble and expense of restoring the truck (or even if he bought it completely restored), I see no problem with him...
