    Halftrack frame

If it is as little there as you say, the weight will be very low. I would guess under 4000. If all the armour is gone, the weight will be low. It sounds like a lot less than what my half track had when I got it and it didn't weigh any where near 8000. Still, it's just a guess. The frame is light...

818 Why so hard to start!!!!!

I had a cracked plastic line on the cold weather starter thing and it made the truck run the same way you describe. I put a few pounds of air pressure on the fuel tank and found the leak right away. I just looked for fuel dripping from the line. Fixed the leak and it will fire up after months of...

    2009 GA rally pics

Well if any of you see this today, take a few for me, I will not be able to attend. As long as it is dry weather I am going to have to work, including tomorrow. I prayed for rain but the Good Lord has given me Sun. Gotta go dig some ditches. Joe Trapp

Official '09 SS Ga. Rally Info thread

OK guys, it's looks like I will not have the time I want to spend at the rally. So here's the question, if I just drive my M886 up after lunch on Saturday, will there be much going on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning? I realy need a break from work and a lot BS'in. Joe

Where are you staying for the 09 GA Rally

Well work has got me too. I hope to drive down Saturday morning if I can get enough done this week but I will not be using my cabin. If anybody wants to take it please let me know I have it reserved for Friday night and Saturday night. It's the brown roof inn I think. If I make it I will be...

Official '09 SS Ga. Rally Info thread

One big quick question. I will be driving my F-350 with a gooseneck in tow and I am wondering if there will be room to park it in the "base camp" area. We will probably not arrive until after dark Friday night. I will probably have to work as long as I can that day. We will be staying until...

    Why FreightTrain was banned...

You know I love this "thank" button, but can we get an "AMEN" button

    Food service for Ga Rally

A couple of things. If you guys want some catfish, I can ponder bringing a few. First off I don't clean anything except the house. If you are interested I can snag a couple and put them in a container and bring them down Friday night. I have been trying to give a hand full away for a while and...

    Why FreightTrain was banned...

First off, I should thank the owners and opperators of the site for all the work they do. No need on my end to explain why FT was banned. I trust you guys and also realize that trust is not required. It's your property and I use it at your disgression. I suspect there where a few people that...

I feel odd driving my M886

I'm working on the rims. I have another set (I have retired my old ford so that's 5 rims) but I want some better tires before I put them on. My regular truck (2001 ford) was down last week so I took the child to school in the Ambulance all week. She loves it and thinks its cool, so poop on...

Gas dripping out rust holes in the exhaust?

You could have a stuck float in the carb and you might be putting a lot a gas down the intake. I wouldn't think the gas is going to build up in the pipe and restrict the flow of exhaust. Gas will wash the oil out of the cylinders and fowl the plugs. My truck sat for years and ran smooth as oil...

Official '09 SS Ga. Rally Info thread

If all else fails, I think I have an old GP medium, canvas, that might work. It would have to be hauled there by someone else since I won't get there until Friday evening. I don't have good poles for it, but I have poles I used from my Kitchen tent on one a few years ago. I have not set it up...

    Looking for a 5 ton

I got your 5 ton RIGHT HERE!! Heck, you should come up and get my Marine M813. It's still for sale at $5500 to Steelsoldiers members and with a little effort and lack of good judgement, you could drive it home this weekend :-P. It was even singled out by the military with 14.00 radials.

No More Political Avatars or Signatures or Slamming!!!

Being the one in the group that will be looking for something only to discover I am holding it, where is the REPORT POST button? I don't mind reporting people and I don't care if I'm anonymous. I don't think many people forget either. Some of the guys on here just don't respect the rules and...

What makes an ambulance an RV?

The civil suit is my biggest concern. I don't plan to get in an accident, I don't plan to get anyone hurt, but then again, nobody plans for these things to happen. What ever I do, I WILL HAVE EVERYBODY SPRAPPED DOWN AND VERY SECURE. I am Mr. Parinoid, the King of overkill, etc. etc. I am wanting...

What makes an ambulance an RV?

Well I found some good info in the SC code of law. It deal with seat belts and it is subject to interpretation, to some degree. I think it is a little contradictory myself but it does give one some points to argue. I quote: SECTION 56-5-6520. Mandatory use of seat belt. The driver and every...

What makes an ambulance an RV?

Ok, I should clarify a couple of things. I am not looking to register my vehicle as an "RV" per say, I have it registered with an AMATEUR RADIO OPERATORS tag now and cost is not the issue. My main concern is transporting people in the box. I had thought about adding a few seats but since it...

What makes an ambulance an RV?

So here's the deal. My M886 has had everything removed from the back by some department when they used it for a command post. I have no plans to restore the inside. I also don't really plan to add much to it. This is the official "box van" for my friends and family. However, it only has two...

I feel odd driving my M886

Is it me or are some of you suggesting the factory crome wheels (1996 maybe) look out of place? I guess I'll have a set of "green" sawblades on it by the weekend. I like the 16" set up though and I just retired my old 86' ford that has 16" stock hubcap type wheels on it, so I guess when I get...

I feel odd driving my M886

Well maybe I'll take my little girl to school it in tomorrow now. For those that need a picture:
