Some good advise I received, and pass on to folks like yourself is to spend time behind the wheel of both deuces and 5 tons. Hopefully you can build relations with MV owners in your area to coordinate meetings where you can put in some hands on time!
It sure looks like something (from the shift assembly??) exited the rear gear set under protest! Have you rotated the shafts completely to assess each and every tooth of both gears?

I'm of the opinion that GL knows they aren't getting every dollar on every lot, but because there is so much material passing through, it's alright.
And for us hobbyists, this scenario is good news.

I may have missed it being suggested previously, but have you considered having a direct conversation with the cousin about what he wants to be paid? The way I see it, it's between you guys anyway, since you both have the most skin in the game! You will have to come to terms on the hourly rate...

I acknowledge you are fitting the hydraulic principally for skidding the shelter onto the bed. However, in post #39 you mentioned the idea of fitting gin poles for lifting.
Does this winch have the proper design and braking mechanisms for lifting? I'd like to know your thoughts on this...
I'd definitely probe the light switch for power and grounds. At the switch is also a good place to jumper the various lights with a temporary hot lead from the switch harness of from another battery source. Pull the connector from the switch and probe it with a test light to find out if there is...
