    angry at my Cucv

I'm not a chemist nor do I play one on TV, but I believe the sulphur removed from diesel is what used to act as a lubricant. rick

    new member from Ma

Hi Steve and welcome. My father in law lives in Marion. I spend summers there and really enjoy the scenery. He stores my collection of OD trailers, trucks and swag. SS member "Vintageiron" is a great resource for you. He's relocating to Falmouth right now but if you ever need anything, send him...

    Steyr Puch/ MB G-wagon 230GE?

One of the major differences that I have always considered between the G wagon and a CUCV is the ability to perform affordable customizations, such as tires, rims, gearing and suspension. Because I don't see catalogs of modification parts for the military G wagon, it seems like the Chevy...

    Tracks for US halftracks

They are not aftermarket friendly, but I found tracks for sale at NAPCO and SECO a few years back. Rick

Thanks for sharing but that photo just ain't right. Rick

    Torque rod removal

That was way too easy, and potentially misleading! For a deuce I found it required a method to load the joint with a pry bar, while striking the tapered hole part repeatedly with a 3lb mallet. Soldier B is sometimes required for applying a pure two handed hammer swing. Rick

M35A2 Frame Up Restore Labor of Love

Nice truck, and thank you for posting the detail photos. Your thread has me remembering an experience I had some time ago regarding a discussion about painting a military vehicle. On another part of this forum I asked a fellow about his WW2 vehicle restoration. I had seen photos of his work...

Oil all over motor, where should I start looking?

Regarding the oil leaks, I overheated a deuce and the engine spewed oil from the front of the head gasket. It made a heck of a mess in the engine compartment. After cooling the engine down, the leak stopped. I cleaned the engine and the entire compartment and have not noticed any appreciable...

    Driving through Central America

FMJ, If you documented the name of the person you sold it to, and you informed the seller of the EUC, then you have met the EUC requirements and you are in the clear. I don't personally subscribe to the fear mongering that occasionally surfaces on this forum. If the Gov didn't want these...

I am curious to hear your opinion on what part of the EUC he did not adhere to. Rick

    supercharged m1009?

Belt routing on the 6.2 is gonna be troublesome due to the multitude of belts already there. Fitting a SC may be a good time to configure the motor as a serpentine system. Rick

    Purchasing a M113 APC?

$30K sounds fair, but like all old vehicles, that is just the entry fee! Rick

    Difference between M35A2 and M36

The Technical Manual TM 9-2320-361-10 has comparative specifications under the "Tabulated Data" section in the first chapter. This TM is a great place to learn more about the deuce, especially if you can withstand the hypnotic nature of the read. Rick

    Purchasing a M113 APC?

Purchasing it will probably be easy: Give the seller some money and it's yours. The "reasonable" price may reflect the fact it has no title. Ask around with vendors of ex military vehicles in your state, such as White Owl Truck Parts Co. in Kinston. You may find there are some vendors in your...

    Tracks for US halftracks

The advent of 3D printing is a potential game changer in obsolete parts. We just need some visionary (and well financed) capitalistic military enthusiast(s) to step up and start printing out parts to fill the demand. The next ten years are gonna be interesting for us OD collectors as...
