    winch shear pins-- Cheapest??

It's been a while since I bought any, but White Owl had replacement pins for $3.50 each. They came with the little cotter pins as well. I too subscribe to the analysis of materials made by Gringeltaube. Especially if strength of the "fuse" is an issue. Otherwise the availability and price is...

How do I get it home?

I am not sure if the automatic coverage applies to vehicles over 10k pounds. Progressive does not cover anything over 10k so it might be advised to call your company to verify the coverage applies to deuces. Rick

    Replacement Eye bolt

I suggest you utilize the parts manual to obtain the NSN numbers and then search the net for resources. Some of the regular vendors (White Owl, Saturn , TNJ Murray) speak fluent NSN and might be able to source a replacement. That's all I got! Rick

    beefing up the multi-fuel engine

May I add that the axles on the deuce seem to sprout leaks from the pinion seals if turned much faster than they were designed for. I think the deuce is a great truck as it was designed, but for all the reasons mentioned (brakes, engine, axles) does not easily lend itself to "hopping up" like...

Swing out Grill and mount for 105 trailer???

I've used the rear axle, spindle and hub out of a wrecked small front wheel drive sedan for making swing out implements. Maybe you can do the same for your idea, they are cheap and can handle a reasonable load. Just be sure to create a securing system because they turn easily. I love camping...

    An Amusing Unimog quote...

Boy, I don't know. Unimogs are good, and Land Rovers are not. I have no experience with AM General but Chevy trucks seem to last. The Unimogs I have owned are lighter and less durable than US trucks of the same year range. Especially the body metal, but I am also considering the heft and...

I am sure many have done it that way, but this one comes to mind first: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce-modification-hot-rodding/44800-another-way-bob-deuce.html I found it by using Google to search this forum. I searched: "Steelsoldiers bob a deuce". Rick

Anyone live near Chambersburg that can do a quick recovery and temporary storage?

I recommend you send a PM to R Racing regarding the MD recoveries. He assisted me with a trailer and was excellent with his effort, promptness, communications and price. Sorry, can't make recommendations about PA. Rick

Whoa, 54" diameter!!! I think you should consider the need for a spare..... and a mounting location for it as well. Rick

Has anyone converted to serp belt and kept the 24v dual alts ?

Two batteries connected in either parallel (for a 12v set up) or in series for a 24v system does not require "isolaters and such". I thank you for informing me of the different configurations of the CUCV and Humvee, and I adhere to my belief that a serpentine belt system with one alternator of...
