Automotive glass shops like Safelite yes you are correct they can't do anything old or outside their box. They have to purchase and sell to you a premade glass. But and all around glass shop that does both home and auto should be able to take care of you. I use to work for the local Glass...
If you are getting a spark something is not right. Might have something in your wiring that is grounding out. (Maybe a wire that is damaged and touching the frame?) It's a PITA but check all your circuits and see if you have anything going to ground where it's not suppose to....or not going to...
Great project. Just one question. How long from when you cut the boards to staining and sealing took place? Did the wood have time to dry and shrink? More pictures please.
Military trucks don't drip oil....they mark their territory!
Nice repowers who ever did them did a very good job. Nothing to be ashamed of there. Enjoy your rides.
I am interested in your brake modification ideas. Please post up when you get to that stage and show us what you did and what parts you used. The brakes on the GMC M series trucks are good brakes. If you get them working right you can stop on a dime and give 8 cents change. But eliminating...
Yep what diesel583 said. Take what you have to a good glass shop and they should be able to replicate it molding and all. Remember to have laminated glass put in. Same glass that is used on the windshields.
@ogotay81 You'll have more luck checking your corner of the world for a cab then you will the US. As stated before the US-6 was not the US's may 6x6 that was the GMC CCKW so most of the US-6s were sent to the Soviets. I would think any of the former Soviet countries and even Russia its self...
I don't see why it wouldn't work. The manifold from a side turbo 6.5 is a direct bolt in on a 6.2. The top cap/horn that bolts to the manifold and would go to the turbo is maybe the only area of concern as Ilikemtb999 pointed out. But yes the manifold does bolt up no problems.
A GM 6.2 or 6.5 diesel with TH400 or 700r4 transmission fit nicely into the m37. If you add a turbo then you have to modify the engine bay for it to fit.
You should be able to take your lock ring tires to any commercial truck tire place and have them unmounted and then the new tire put on if you want or unmounted and take to clean and repaint before the new tires. When I had a M35 I took my tires to a commercial truck tire shop and they...
Most likely your truck was purchased in 1980 by the US Navy. It's an more or less an off the shelf truck that was purchased by government contract. Happens all the time. The military needs civilian trucks to do work on bases all the time. It got military marking and placards when it was...
If you driving through water you want to make sure you do all the PM on the truck to change the oils in the diffs and lube any joints that you can. This will keep the water from doing nasty things to your truck. Nice truck enjoy your ride.
As far as I know the slant back was done to give the gunner a better field of vision and firing position. Also someone please correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the original slant back fiberglass? Where as that plan b kit looks to be steel or aluminum? Also the GI slant back hatch will open...
Unless they changed the forum rules you can not post parts for sale in the M37 forum and would have to post them in the for sale forum. You could also go over to G741.org and post them on their for sale section. heck post them in both...or sell them on fleabay.
Didn't I say that...lol. That is why I went for an axle swap on my M37. The rear should just about drop right in. May have to move the spring perches just a .5 inch or so. The front is the one where you will either have to shorten the drivers side or move the passenger side leaf spring to...
Most likely a non M880 Dodge truck purchase by the Army and used for non-combat functions. i.e. by post maintenance or range control or what ever. It could be the same truck used by all the forces (Army, Navy, AF etc) for base and post vehicles. Purchased in a large lot with x number going to...
You'll find that you don't use 1st gear that much. It's a granny gear and most time you can get the 151 rolling from a stop in second gear. Think of it as a 3 speed with a granny gear. Now you just need things like lights, gauges, seats and a top... :)
