What would be involved in swapping the trans and transfer case from a later model Dodge into the M880? I guess if it was simple everyone would be doing it.

I'm surprised that you didn't cut the intake manifold to show how the exhaust manifold is mounted under it. Otherwise it looks great and I hope to see it in person some day.
Check your fuel pump. Not sure if you have a A2 fuel pump or not. It might be that when the engine warms up the diaphragm in the fuel pump loosens up and it can't deliver the fuel properly. Also try putting a 45 degree elbow on the fuel inlet to the carb. That will move the fuel filter...
Just my theory here, but I would say that it was a standard M151A1 that was demilled by cutting it in half and then when they went to put it back together they lengthened it and built the upper body on the rear to make a "pick up" jeep. That's my thought on it.
