    "Rescued" M816 Wrecker

Yep,waited a few days before calling him to find out if yall were going to deal first. When he mentioned they were still available I made an offer. The outriggers are holding most of the truck weight, with the axles sitting on stacks of wood. Went to all 6 wheel ends and removed the...

    Choosing a 5-ton truck

The rev limiter can be adjusted. The NHC250 motor in my m816 wrecker can turn 2500 rpm and keep climbing while in gear. It's supposed to be limited to 2100-2300 rpm.

    "Rescued" M816 Wrecker

Little bit of parking spot organization with the wrecker today, moved the m51 remains (soon to be 'wrecker minion 2.0'). Have a trade for some axle components coming up so flipped the wrecker around and started disassembly before the weather came in this evening. The rear axles and suspension...

    Wrecker cab swap

Agreed no need for the external pump. before you disassemble the cab setup the PTO for crane operation, identify on the transmission shift mechanism where each gear selection is, rig up the engine to start/stop. If you do decide to use a external powered pump you need to find out what quick...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Looks similar to what came out of my m816. changed it out and added a filter back in February and have driven about 2k miles this year plus lots of idle time. Going to change it out again next year and open up the filter, see how much it caught. Today removed the air tanks drain valve and...

M800 series / M900 series drum brakes hydraulic / air brakes ????? Please help..

Drums and shoes are a different width. Why are you wanting to get rid of the air brakes? Been thinking of going to airbrakes on my m816.

Need feedback from more experienced people with MV ownership

True, but you're rolling on a tire size that is notorious for doing that due to the tire age and the trucks sitting with flat tires.

What have you done WITH your wrecker this week?

Had to pull the drums off the old m51 front axle and really didn't feel like doing any heavy lifting today, plus loaded some more scrap metal into the dump bed
