    M818 springs vs m813

I don't even really give people rides in the bed because it's so choppy. The smallest bump or pothole will make the rear axles hop like crazy!

    some 5 tons at work

I notice a lot of 800 series 5 tons on big construction jobs. There's a job going close to my home, and they are running about 10 or so older 800 series with the vintage sheet metal still on.

cost of ownership (the real cost of a deuce)

I just picked up a m35a2 from a private party. So far I'm $4550 in, and the $50 was fuel for the drive home :) These trucks are getting harder to find here on the west coast and I'm happy I found one for what seems to be a cheaper price than what I've been seeing... I just realized I could have...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I'm thinkin about swapping my shortened deuce bed for a full length deuce bed, and deleting spare tire mount and tool box on the m818. I really want to run a cargo cover on the bed.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Are those control panel lights too bright at night? That's always been my fear of running toggle switch indicators.

I just never thought of that, I've always disconnected everything thinking I'd short out the cells. I just learned something new.

Does that work? Charging 1 at a time at 12v while wired to make 24v?

M817: Starting issues, no prime, at wits end!

Yes, you need to check to make sure it's getting power. When you turn on master power switch the fuel solenoid should open.

Sounds like you have the emergency stop worked out. What seems weird is the white smoke. Wouldn't that be unburned fuel? The fuel cutoff solenoid could be faulty also.
