Bottom line, California clearly states any vehicle with 3 or more axles over I think 6,000 lbs is minimum class b license required. There's no grey area, no ways around it, it's what is required. Now as far as enforcing that law...... You can take a chance driving with a regular class c license...
California there's three ways to register our trucks. Historical, recreational (rv) and commercial.
Most of us here stick to rv and historical. It is really not that hard to get the older trucks registered, as long as you have the proper paperwork.
I've done two trucks and a m105 trailer so...
Fires aren't too bad out here, and yes I like the old bullnose trucks.
The newer 5tons are starting to grow on me, just don't know if I wanna jump onto that bandwagon yet! I would like to ad a m816 to the collection.
Last weekend I took my cargo cover off and flipped it around and reinstalled by myself. It was much easier rolling up the sides and folding it into a burrito!
And yes I had installed it backwards the first time. That is why I had to flip it..
I had a opportunity to drive sbkarmen's truck "m818 turbo nhc250 with pump tweaked" and it is on 16.00 tires. It is able to accelerate with traffic no problem and is very driveable compared to my truck on 11.00 tires and stock n/a motor. My plan is to do the turbo conversion and 16.00s
I used a guy in irwindale off the 605. My trucks are already registered historic. I just was curious about the newer 5 tons since they aren't old enough for historic tags
