Once you get the 211 working you'll notice the difference between the two. I've owned both trucks over the years even had both at the same time for a few months and there is a difference in the way they roll and ride.
I only see one problem with your build....it looks like somewhere the truck is running windows... Now you know your going to have a problem..

If buying used make sure is hydraulic because the older trucks had electric ones which were 24V. You can buy it new from the manufacture but your going to pay military prices... so be ready to sell your first born to buy it... :) Just keep your eyes open in classified adds as well as ebay for one.

Is the relay gounded properly. If it doesn't have a good gound side to complete the 12V circut that could be a problem. Also if the relay is bad it could be shortin out internally. Try taking the 12V off the tops and test if the circut is closing properly. A VOM set to short on either...
Use the picture as a guide....get some PVC pipe and some paint? Your just looking for show make up some dummies. If your handy get some steel pipe and weld them up.

I think the natural wood looks sharp, but it's not original if you want to do the truck mill spec. The wood should be painted to same color as the body and since the troop seats are more or less part of the bed I would think they were painted at the same time when it rolled off the assembly...
I agree with everyone else...paint it with a high temp paint. What color is the NOS one you just got? Paint it to that color (I'm guessing steel grey).
