Since you are rewiring the truck and you stated that you not to concern about stock why not get the Packard connections instead of the Douglas ones. They would be a big improvement, more weather resistant and are a little bit easier to take back apart. Just a thought.
You have to go off roading just to get to Bobs house... :)
I don't know where the post went so we can't say if it is a M880 or a CUCV, but it had a brush guard on it which is CUCV plus M880 were out of the system by 1990-1991. Just saying
The military wiring is about as plug and play as any computer system...meaning that 22 is brake light. 23 is tail. 16 is low beam, 17 is high and 18 is headlight ground. Just hook the numbers up and away you go.
Except that your picture show a CUCV which is a diesel powered Chevy from the 1980s and not a M880 gas powered Dodge from the 1970s. It's interesting that you put HMMWV Tires on that truck because in stock configuration the CUCV is only a 16 inch rim and not a 16.5 inch like the HMMWV and the...
I'm not an expert, but have you tried Kascar Reall 4WD. He sells parts etc and he advertises that he has HMMWV for sale, but the link on his website doesn't seem to work. Probably would have to call them. He might be able to put something together for you, but I have no idea what it would...
Hmmwv rims are 16.5 x 8 is that not the size of M880 rims? I picked up a set of dodge rims at the junk yard to put on those axles and they are 16.5 x8.
First let me say that these are your trucks and please use them as you wish, but for the life of me why would you want to subject your 30 year old HMV to plow work? Between the road salt and wear and tear that plows put on the front end to me it doesn't seem to be practical. Get a used civy...
Yep the biggest hurdel would be finding those wheels. But you should be able to mount HMMWV Tires if they are the Radial type right to the M880 rim with no issues. Not the biasply ones as those require a tube, but the Radials would work fine....In fact if I remember from last spring when I...
Have you tried surplus dealers for the cables? If they are the same as the M35 kit maybe one of them would have a set of cables and the switch that you are looking for?
Just bolts right in. Did that about 20 years ago because my friend got a M880 with no motor and we took the 360 out of an old truck and bolted it right in. They army should have put the 360 in from the get go...You'll like that motor in your turck!
The emissions stuff was added after 1974 I think. The ROPS was started in the later 70s or early 80s I just can't remember anymore... All A2 came with Altinators.
It just amazes me when it comes to transmissions. Go over to 4BT Swaps and those guys praise the 47rh behind both the 4bt and 6bt and poo-poo the 700r4 and any varriant like 4L60....I'm getting to the point where if someone asks I say just put in what you like and forget about it because...
I was thinking about the cummins 6bt. But if I did the 6BT I would use the Dodge 46rh or 47rh (not sure on exact number) trans for the same reason the 700R4 has been mentioned. Lower first gear and a high 4th gear. But the dodge transmission is proven and tested behind the Cummins motor...
Hello all,
What color is the HMMWV color from the factory...i.e. brand new rolling out of the factory.
Is it CARC Green, Flat black or Satin Black?
Thanks
Joe
Do you have a model and year range on that van? Is that a metal tank or plastic? I'm thinking of changing to a plastic tank and have been looking for a civilian equivilant.
Thanks
