    M109A4 Sub-Zero Oil Field

Worse comes to worse you could always attach high density foam board directly to the walls and mount the shelves over that. The green foam board interlocks for a good seal. Rick

New CUCV owner - Transmission and engine questions

I am guessing there are more than a few that would be interested in what your idea of a "Hick" truck is. Not everyone feels the need to keep it 100% military, they are basically civilian trucks after all.

    M109A4 Sub-Zero Oil Field

I think your ideas about going with the the updated modern electrical and lighting are a very good idea. You are depending on this vehicle for your livelihood and safety and the safety of others, do not scrimp on the necessities. The one thing I have not seen you talk about, or maybe I missed...

New CUCV owner - Transmission and engine questions

I have never seen exhaust run through the sides of the bed like that, it is not really that bad looking. It was cleanly done. When you say the water is frozen do you mean the water in the engine? That would be bad! The problem with the websites that were mentioned is that they will ot ship...

    Looking at a MUTT

I came in a little late but check out the G838.org site. It is M151 only. A lot of good info on there. Check the underneath very well. They rust out badly under there and they are unibody so no frame. If it is rotted on the rear crossmember then walk away. If the rest is rotted it can be...

M1031 CUCV lost all power to fues box

Also take out and put back in every fuse in the in the fuse panel. They get corrosion on them and do just what you experienced. You do not have to replace them with new ones, just remove and put back to clean up the connection. Rick

An Aussie 5-ton RV conversion 'Mad Max Winnebago'

You were talking about problems with foreigners buying things here, A friend of mine from Germany has said the same thing while another German friend has no problem? One thing I do know is that cash talks. Right now everyone's cash is worth a lot more than ours.:x The only problem I would...

An Aussie 5-ton RV conversion 'Mad Max Winnebago'

Man! They are a lot cheaper on the west coast! That unit over here in the east would be double that. I would be all over it!:whistle::whistle: Seriously though, if you are interested then discuss it in PM's because someone else looking may just snatch it out from under you. No it will...

    Redneck Mechanic examples?

I have done the very same thing with floor jacks (lifted into position) bottle jacks, a bumper jack and yes a scissors jack. Whatever it takes. Henderson, Many years of off road racing and I think I have used every combination of duct tape, ratchet straps and assorted tools used as splints...

How far can a M109 tilt to the side?

You will know when you have gone too far because you will hear a voice that sure sounds like your own yelling OH S***!!!!!! If you have your significant other with you then you will probably never be able to hear much again shortly after that scream! Rick

Now how did I do this? Cracked Pistons.

HMMMM, I will have to look at my parts pile. I have a complete engine in parts minus the block, crank, timing cover. Customer told me he had his wife crank it while he shot "Just a little" ether into it. BANG! Broke the crank right behind #2 rod like usual and broke the front main saddle and...

    Just got free UMO

There is something you guys are not thinking about. Race teams usually use synthetic oil in the engines and everywhere else. This stuff is NOT designed to burn. Rick

Now how did I do this? Cracked Pistons.

Sorry Ken, I just went back through all of the posts and I don't see that. Never see American engine parts listed in mm. At least not in my 40 years as a mechanic. Working with foreign engines I dealt with it all the time. No matter, just make sure what is in the engine is the same as what is...
