A properly built 700 with the red clutches and upgraded drums and a Trans-Go shift kit is a VERY strong transmission. Especially with the 4:56's I don't think you will have any problems at all. Did you check to see if the front rear was a locker?

The basic trucks came off of the same assembly lines as the civilian trucks, Same body, same frame, same engine block. I know throughout the years I always had problems with GM mounts not fitting for the years they were supposed to. In cars as well as trucks.

Don, I know that here in NJ the shop HAS to keep on file records of where every gallon of waste oil went. If you want to give them a receipt then it is legal for the shop to give it to you but it then becomes your responsibility to prove where the contaminated oil was disposed of. Burning it is...
You guiy's are overlooking the main reason for the big oil change places selling back used oil. The oil companies re-refine the oil and sell it as the el-cheapo brands. Many years ago you could buy "Re-refined" oil. I had a Ford Galaxie that had a bad rear main seal and it used as much oil as it...
Final ratio in the manual is 1:1. With the 4:56's you will definitely want the O/D. I can't help with the rim suggestions but I am sure someone will chime in. It would be nice if you could keep the dually set-up because of the bigger brakes.

Sorry, I just saw the thread. I am in Jersey but too far east to be of any real help. I don't have a deuce but I have a driveway and air, torches, welders and tools.

WOW! they must have a totally different pintle setup on the 1009. The 1008 setup is massive and no way would it do that. The 1008 is not supported by the bumper at all, it just comes through the bumper but the supports are all behind it. I put on a class 4 hitch on mine anyway but I still use...
If you are going to run the 4:56's then stay with the 700. putting the manual in is doable but a lot of work. The nice thing is that you have the donor truck complete so EVERTHING you need is there. Pedals, crossmember, driveshafts. the rear shaft would have to be shortened but putting the 14...
CJ, I towed a 5000 lb. boat on a regular basis with my civvie blazer with a class three hitch. Granted I had put in 3:73 gears but that is a **** of a lot cheaper than trying to find a good M1008. You have had nothing but trouble with your military vehicle and have spent thousands of dollars on...
When I had my shop in the 80's I put 3:73's and 4:10's in a ton of Blazers that had 3:07's in them from the factory. The only ones that had the 3:73's from the factory were bought with a towing package. I do agree that the 3:08 and overdrive was worthless but that was the thinking of the day...
