The mirrors were just what they were using back then... No thought was given to a west coast style vrs the single arm. It was what they used in wwII and what they were still using then. The Army of the 40-50-60-and 70s was slow to change. If it worked don't mess with it. Those mirror made you...
You can restitch the top if you have the time. You have the choice of two basic tools. The automatic stitch awl (nothing automatic about it) which is an awl with a bobin of thread in it. It is used to repair canvas and leather. You can get them at craft stores, and leather craft shops. I am...
Don't worry about it. The Army hauls the trucks like that all the time and they don't cover the pipe. They don't even mention doing that in the manuals for shipping either.
I wonder if your getting a sort of vapor lock. Look at your fuel lines to the carb do they run along side the intake and exhaust manifolds? Maybe when you shut it down the heat gets a chance to work on the lines and create a vapor lock and not till it cools off will it start.
What do the...
Wow nice looking truck. The color doesn't look like 34079 it looks darker...maybe it's just the digital picture, but should be closer in color to the pic above....the green part that is.
As for markings. 101AB 23M A-25 (I just made those up...:))
Let me know ahead of time and I'll see if I can slip away and get down that way to see ya. Maybe take the soon to be son in law he's getting more and more into these here army trucks.
RE: Movie M17
He swings from the rafters of the building towards the back of the M37 that has the loot in it, misses and swings back into the cab of an M35. Other than paint color was a little off the trucks looked like 1958 or so.... The dueces were gassers all the GI MVs only had one brake...
Marines neve marked the vehicle with unit markings like the Army did. It's a Marine thing I guess...everyone is a riffleman blah blah blah...lol....anyway sometimes there would be a diamond with the unit's numbers on the door or tail gate of the vehilce. Might been something like 111 or 1-11...
If she is still the future wife don't you think you should get married already...lol.
I started my own business 4 years ago and thought it is starting to get finially off the ground I'm still broke...so I understand what your saying.
Barrman's Gasser is getting painted in USMC Semi-gloss with Yellow USMC markings...Do a search for his posts on his trucks and I think the last one he did had a pic or two of it at it's present stage. Or maybe if your nice he'll post some more pics for all of us to drool over...lol.
Gotta watch that Kwai...he's starting his own command....one truck at a time... :) I read the subject line quickly and I thought it said Curses to Kwai... I thought oh boy what did he do now...lol.
Diesels don't like to sit....so I'd say if you can run it once a week...if not at least every other week. But what fun is a MV if your not driving them right?
RE: Re: Dome light install?
It's white because it was originally made to go in Armor...like tanks and APCs... :)
I think you can wire it where ever you want it to be...gives you the most light where you want it.
