I concur with Bottleworks above, get JATONKA's spin on filter adapters, which prevent oil from leaking back to the crankcase, and with oil in the bearings at start, they should be good for 500,000 miles! rofl

Greenupscott:
You got a good deal on the trailer, but might I say, squawking about the weight is rather unnecessary. If you wanted a jeep or CUCV trailer, get one of these..... The M105 series were designed to follow the M35's with cargo through just about...

 Dear Steel Soldiers:
Do any of our members out there have a spare Operators / Maintenance Manual for the M105A2 series of 1-1/2 Ton Cargo trailers they'd like to get rid of???? I purchased an ex OKLA Army National Guard unit in Norman,Ok, in the...

Dear M16TY:
Any reputable auto upholstery shop should be able to do the foam and the cover(s) for your reasonably cheap, BUT I would suggest modifying the bottom cushion thickness by increasing the amount of foam by say another inch, and...

My M35A2 "Saddam's Nightmare" apparently has the chain from the period that the spring seat was applied, and the chain is welded to the front left seat mount bolt head, and it is not a small chain either!! I like to call it the "Baghdad Club", although as this truck has had...
RE: Re: Dash switch I.D. question

Dear Razorbacman:
I refitted my 1971 Kaiser Jeep with one of these that was a take off from another deuce going to scrap and , man, the improvement over the old three lever is measurable at night it's much easier to find...

:cookoo:
Boy, Our Canadian DMV friends must be nuts, as the deuces didn't always have windshield washer units originally, and I'll bet you a lot of SS trucks don't have them yet.... The law in the States is... ifit isn't original equipment and isn't on...

rofl Rhinomike:
The situation you describe is the normal one on an everyday M35 deuce with the three lever light switch. For whatever reason, when the Army designed the switch they did not intend the front parking lights to be illuminated...

Good luck on your trip, and now I don't feel so bad getting 10 or 11 MPG out of a diesel M35A2 at 52-55 MPH on the road with a load (light)..... But gasoline is still a little cheaper then diesel so I'll burn a mixture of things. We had a bunch of M135/211's at...

Nice Save on the wipers, Andy..... I see you got your M818 loose from GL!!! Given that Texas Diesel's @ $4.03 to 4.07 per gallon, I don't know if I could afford a 5 ton.... Nor do I want the required CDL that comes with it!! Set up some more pictures of your...

OH,OH!!!
Looks like some of the snow in the swale in the background didn't believe he meant business....it's still in the trenches looking at him!!!! Now's his chance to buy one of those really massive Oshkosh plow trucks from the USAF...... That'll...

April 19th, 2008.
All things being equal, there's no way any of the FMTV's would have equalled properly modified and reengineered M35, M818, and M900 series vehicles...... If you want serious off road capability go for the larger series of...

Dear ACKARUS:
Looks like you have a Jeep Corp truck by its Identification Number 4K56471, just a bit younger then my 1971 Kaiser Jeep M35A2 ID No.04J43671, NSN#2320-00-077-1616; ID No. 04J-43671-0525-22392; Contract No.: DAAE-06-70c-0001. The Jeep Corp...

I hope your trucks had the air ride seats for that trip, otherwise your derrierres are going to be numb! Nice trucks, and you didn't miss anything by not going to Bland, Virginia, though the old road (US 52) over the mountain used to be heck on any large...

UGH!!!!! Bet that HMMWV driver won't hear the end of that wrong turn he took anytime soon (if ever)...... Cleaning the underframe, sides and engine compartment would have to be beyond disgusting! And as you say, in that heat it's gonna be...

The one with the drivers windshield unlatched is right out of Pittsburgh Railways Co. and the streamlined PCC cars(1930-1950's..... We would leave the vent window unltched and the door switches open, then reach in, trip the switches and close the vent window..... works...
RE: GL -Figure this one out.....

Got ME?
I thought I posted it in the General Conversations, and I would ask the Moderators to move the beastie as I can't figure out the move myself!! Also there are apparently inverters that will take this down to 60Hertz.... I...

From What I can figure out the Generator's 400 HZ, but the specification seem to be that it brakes down to 120/208 1phase and 60 cycles. My railroad generator sets are the same way based on the number of poles and rotation rate,if not...

I guess I'll never figure out how GL works, it's probably a branch of the Illuminati or something, but I have to applaud them on this one. Thursday, the 10th of April, Sale No.3289 closes at 5:00PM EDT, and yesterday I find that I...
