Gmc cckw 353 2 1/2 ton cargo body

Vintage Wiring of Maine makes full CCKW harnesses and for an extra $150 they add in wires for dual tail light... they could easily add in wires for directionals. But a new harness is over $900.. would be more with the extra wires. Look at the European CCKWs they all seem to have turn signals.

    wtb 750 x 20s need 10

IIRC the only MANUFACTURERS are Specialty Tire and Universal Vintage Tire. Not gonna find NDTs for less than $220 unless a sale comes up or a mass purchase. I remember reading they need 100 or tire order before they will mold new ones. You don't NEED NDTs.. that street tires were run on CCKWs...

Try Using U-Ship to Move MVs

I've had mixed results. I posted a CCKW I bought (WA to PA) in 2003 and was quoted $5k, $4k. I then asked around, got a name of a broker and caught a back haul for $1800. Uship loses. Recently I posted a CCKW from FL to PA. The CCKW cost me $800 and $1200 to bring up (this was 2006). This...

Studebaker US-6 that needs to be saved!!

Sheet metal looks typical. The dent with the crease on the roof over the passenger side looks the worst (other than the typical seam rust). If the engine were complete(!) and you knew if the bed was a 'gettable' item then the last thing that would worry me is the interior. ITs always the bits...

Studebaker US-6 that needs to be saved!!

Value is always in the eye of the buyer.. Major problem is that there is no bed (most common) . I would not commit to anything other than a look over as I have seen *many* good looking trucks turn out to be hulks that were not worth the gas to go see it. Please find someone to buy it...

Studebaker US-6 that needs to be saved!!

I don't want to be antagonistic but if you are getting $0.09 per lb of unprocessed metal with attachments, tires and fluids WITHOUT any prep please post!!!!!!! I have the front end of a CCKW (about 4k) that I would *LLOOVVEE) to simply haul up and get (4000*.09) $360 for. That would buy me a...

Studebaker US-6 that needs to be saved!!

Where is he getting $900 to scrap a truck? PREPARED clean scrap of at least .250 inch is $0.09/lb. You engine, tranny, transfer is a couple tons and cast iron. So you have the frame and axles. Maybe 4-5k Sorin Iron and Metal *JUST* quoted me $5/100 for a 10k truck. They have to cut it...

    Cost of "NEW" WWII "Jeep"

Actually it WAS DONE. About 3-4 years ago I think Brent Mullins from Texas made 2 MBs and did sell them. The asking price was almost $20,000 and since the frames were SN'd to a 194x MB that's what they were titled as. If you search the g503.com forum it was highly debated as the the...

Studebaker US-6 that needs to be saved!!

Trevorton is like 25 miles from my house (Gordon). If you could PM me the address/contact info and I can look it over and find out all the things that need a finding out. I could even store it for a bit (outdoors). I agree... $900 is nuts. Depending on whats under the hood and how bad that...

    Title Drama

RUN. $4500 is not a good price for a GL truck (does it still have the chalk markings on the bumper?). Its a horrible price with a title IN HAND. If this guy flips the trucks then he knows what a PITA the title can be without a SF97. If he DOESN'T then what else is wrong with the truck. Now...

    1944 cckw slc.

You will still want to match the data plate to the frame SN. Cabs have been switched in the past. The data plate gives a DoD of 1-43 then go with that. That would make it a very early open cab. You would have a wooden bed and the -A2 means it should have banjo axles and a cargo bed. You...

    1944 cckw slc.

If you want to restore the truck you need the SN off the frame. Its usually above the passenger side tire on the frame... you may have to look for it because it can be anywhere on the frame arch above the tire. It should resemble CCKW 353 - XXXXXX - XX. The part between the 353 and the - can...

Anyone have/know of a parts truck on East coast?

I have many discussions with guys from the red ball and I chose not to associate with them. Evidently asking the 'anointed ones' questions is heresy and not to be tolerated. Even when I post the TM/WDC that explicitly stated word for word what I was saying.. on more than one occasion I was...

    1944 cckw slc.

Its not a 1944. Closed cab trucks stopped completely in early 43. Its got the later closed cab style 'military' dash. Not sure on the price but $3k is SKY high if you want to restore it. Bed - early steel.. good luck finding one. Sept 43 on wooden (not impossible). Tires, $2200 Gas tank is...

    Old fashioned carburetor question

I have a Zenith series 28 carb.. they were used on GMC 270s - 302s. Anyone have a source for meter rods and jets? The rebuild kit doesn't seem to have enough parts... plus if I booger one up I would like to have a spare and not have to drop $50 on another rebuild kit.

Anyone have/know of a parts truck on East coast?

Anyone know of any 353 open cab parts trucks on the east coast? Looking for an outer windshield frame, wiring bits, not really in need of any driveline parts... mostly cab bits.

    WWII Internationals

"Not to be confused with the M-5H-6 trucks, exclusively fabricated for and used by the USN and USMC, some 3,500 M-5-6 trucks were produced by International Harvester on a Quartermaster Corps foreign aid order from 1941 on, the main recipient being the Soviet Union. Though the majority was of...

    WWII Internationals

IHs went to Russia mainly. Finding then in the USA is rare and I while I have seen a few go by, they have not garnered much interest. Historically, they played a tiny role in the US Military. Russia and Australia is were most of them seem to be... IIRC there are at least 50 running IHs in...

    Cost of sandblasting?

I think most places simply guesstimate the time and charge accordingly. I got a quote for a CCKW frame (cab/frame/running gear) of $350. Once I pulled up it went to over $500 even though it was almost the exact same size as a box truck sitting there he said he charges $350 for. :( I do all...
