Fixed my hub that was partially locking itself in. Pretty easy fix. Have no idea why this extra clip was in there floating around, but removed it and gave it a five-mile road test and the hub never moved.
Also, tore into my nonworking front bumper mounted blackout light hoping to simply replace...
Oh yeah, threw a first aid kit in her too. Have one in both MVs now. Just seems like it should be in a vehicle that carries the appearance of those vehicles that still serve fellow Americans.
Also, earlier in the week I made an adapter for a flat, four prong trailer connector.
I made it using panel nails soldered to the wires and using a male 110v cord end's cover as it slipped over the truck's military trailer connector perfectly. This took two attempts as the first try I used...
Yesterday I switched wheels with my CUCV and my civy truck, who's place the 1008 took place of due to a cracked frame. These are within a half inch of the size these trucks came with. Had humvee tires on there and a horrible vibration from them. Smooth ride now.
The triangles are law once commercial so I, again, pulled overkill and put flares in there as well. I figure on some blind turn on these hills at night it's best to give plenty heads up.
I tested my bumper mounted hitch tube and you were dead on. The weight of this mobile office (which I only moved rearward 15') had the bumper looking like it was going to come apart. I am going to limit the receiver to 500#. The plate was bowed down and had me sweating to hurry up and get that...
Nice breakdown for him guys! I needn't say much now except when I served in mid 80s I was issued and drove my squad's 5-ton dump(12B!). One day they asked me to drive a deuce 'n a half for headquarters company. After I was done I begged my squad leader to never even ask me to volunteer to get...
Got under truck today while I was there making a recepticle adapter and noticed the 1/4" steel plate I welded my receiver tube to is actually welded (by GM) to braces that directly mount to the frame. I'm confident that setup will haul my mower at top speeds of 45 mph being It only sees windy...
Wow. That is scary. I will only pull the mower with this, but I definitely would like to go with a frame mounted hitch soon, or the pintle location mounted one you speak of. Can the standard ones bolt up or are the pintle braces in the way? Where can one aquire one that bolts in where the pintle...
Thanks. I actually agree. Was considering a couple straps under it as well. I did pull my lawnmower out the dirt road with it yesterday. I would not have even done that much at all on a civy truck's typical step bumper but with all the bracing for the pintle, I know the bumper will hold up. Civy...
I molested my previously unmolested M1008A1 by welding a hitch to the bumper. Then painted it. The light rain spattered the dust and made it look like it came that way.
