Here is a question(s) for ya!
To Bruce, Chris, Army Ed, Bjorn and to whomever else can shed light. I am currently having my spare 6 CTA 8.3 rebuilt to be put in the M936A2 I got from Bruce. I originally thought that the either the head gasket was blown or the oil cooler was bad because I...
Here is a pic of the area where you lock it to keep it from articulating. Let me clarify. It is not only a pin but 2 pins and a "locking bar" that is pinned in place to keep the power unit from moving.
One of our MWSS Units. We also use a smaller pintle hitch trailer to go behind our 7 tons to haul the rubber tire backho around and other equipment. I will find the nomeclature on the two trailers tomorrow.
AWESOME info Chris,
If there were any doubt about the "braking stall" problem with the trucks, you just cleared it up.
Now, just put a 18 yr PVT behind the wheel who doesn't have a care in the world and you just made the situation worst by 10 fold!
Thanks for the compliments Bruce, Clinto, and Chris. Thanks avengeusa.
Chris, I use a Sullair 185 CFM trailer mounted air compressor, a 300 lb pot, using fine media sand. I bought a whole pallet of 30 100 lb bags. I had a helmet with an air line hooked up to it going through a filter first...
Good question Clinto. The M816 I had was done by a company that had the contract for the Army Reserve Units around here. I did not blast that vehicle. It did however cost me $7000 to get the truck blast and I had to bring it back to them 3 times to get it right. That being said, I was finding...
Sandblasted finally! And I will never, never, never sandblast a wrecker again!
I blasted trucks before, but nothing with so many hidden spots and hard to reach areas. You can never get it all. It took just about forever to get all the sand off to paint the truck and lets just say that some...
Its not optional when the vehicle is in operation or least I never seen it done before. A true Marine Motor T. fellow may correct me on that though. However, being a logistics Marine myself and loaded many aboard ship, it is made to be pinned when being lifted on ship to prevent the truck from...
Now I remembe why I love wreckers!
Got around to inspecting the Motor in a can while back for parts. Took the oil pan off to inspect under neath. Looked PRETTY! Also, checked the oil cooler. Looked good too! The motor is looking better and better as a substitute motor for the new wrecker...
Main difference is that a LVS can articulate in the center while an Army HEMTT cannot. The most common variant we use is the tractor version. Marines do not have (as of yet I believe) a HET, instead we use the tractor version of the LVS with the M870 lowboy trailer.
