Finally met Bruce myself this past week. My adventures with the Marines brought me near his neck of the woods so I was able to stop by. I envy his collection and he is one heck of a nice guy. God bless ya Bruce!
This really should be under safety but that forum does not allow attachments.
This came across my desk and thought I would pass it along. It goes along with Bruce's post about brakes and bringing trucks back safely. You towbar guys (myself being one) should read this.
The century old dilemma. Paint with flat paint for authenticity and deal with what the military delt with (oil and grease stains) or use a semi gloss for easy cleanining. Flat is will always be somewhat porous. I would rather the flat with it's problems then having a semi-gloss wessel...
I had similiar problems and had to go to court. They stated all types of codes that I was in violation of and when I challenged them on it in court I won. None of the codes they sighted applied to my situation. I even made them waive the court cost and fees.
I think it's classified as a 7 or 7-1/2 ton truck, wonder if they sell those commecially also with all the off-the-shelf parts in the engine and crew compartments.....
It was originally rated for 7.5 tons when it was in the developement stages. However, the TM states it is a 7.1 ton truck now.
White primer is used on Military vehicles so that when final paint is applied, missed spots and lack of coverage can be easily identified and repainted. It would be hard to see high lights and thin coverage if you would use lets say a green primer.
