You might try opening the start box on the firewall. It may be corroded and has taken a turn for the worse. There is a rebuild thread on how to replace the contents of the start box...

Okay, what about the motor / transmission mounts? Are they in good shape? Generally speaking, a transmission will only get cracked if it is under a load (torque) and maybe the mounting was loose. I can't imagine it just sitting there and getting a crack in it.

You mentioned a "new three lever switch". You might should look carefully at that switch and where it came from. You could end up burning your truck to the ground...
I would start looking at bulbs. You may have fried bulbs because of the charging system maladys

These trucks DO NOT have tons of gidy-up-go. They are SLOW, and get slower on a grade pulling any weight. The big tires (assuming you would super single it) will kill your power for towing. You will drive yourself nuts in this thing for 200 miles and, did any one mention the comfort! They...

Be sure to check in with @m1010plowboy . He has had several trucks like yours and he has gone...

Need to know about the steering... Does this machine have an aftermarket "power steering" installed? Does it have enough fluid in the reservoir? Send pictures?
As far as fluid for the transmission is concerned, you should have an Allison Transmission... 10wt...

If you have no leaks - and the master cylinder is full - and the brakes don't work, then yes the airpac is where your problem most likely is. You might also be sure to verify that you have vacuum going to the air pac. And that there is no holes in the hose...

Welcome to the Outfit!
Yes, that would work.
Just breaking the contact on the solenoid will work just fine.
The switch might even be inverted - thinking that somebody would turn a switch OFF to turn it on?
