Yes sir... That would work and a little breeze wouldn't hurt either. Lots of guys here just use an oven or two wired in as a load bank. Wired appropriately of course.

Chances are that the generator wasn't loaded heavily enough when it was last run. It takes hours and hours of time to build up that much "soot". Might have been a command tent that it was attached to and it spent most of its life just running with no load. Yep, you definitely should see a...

Welcome to the Outfit!
I would suggest filtering WMO just because of the possibility of ingesting slivers of bearings and grit and general dirt from the waste motor oil. Get yourself a pair of drums - whatever size. Get a filter housing and a pump and move the oil from one drum to the other...

Well good! Happy to see you here - and make sure you download the TM's (Technical Manuals) for the GenSets you are working on. There is a ton of information in those books...

No Sir... Unfortunately you have to go around your thumb to get to your a$$. This site doesn't support video. Have to go to YouTube (or similar) post your video, then past a link here. Sorry...

Well, it would be interesting to see what you do to it. I watched your intro video. Offloading the cab... I would imagine repowering the truck would be one of the first things to do. Once you get the engine and transmission in place, a trip to the local drive shaft repair facility will be...

So... What are you going to do with your FAV when you finish it?
Is your plan to drive it around town, or do you plan to run it on the beach?
I saw your discussion about selling your first to fix your house. Just wondering...

Wow. What a difference it made - cleaning up the TC.
Looks like Willow was worn out. From all that helping :)
The parts look pretty good. I would look closely at the chain - making sure it wasn't stretched with the washer flying around inside.

You should be able to download a copy of Acrobat reader to get your Steel Soldiers Library working again. If you don't access the Web with it, you should be able to download the program - then copy it to your machine and install. Let me know if you run into trouble and maybe PM me an address...

Rotela 15-40 will do the job nicely.
Just regular "Dinosaur Oil" is perfectly fine.
You might also look in the TM Section (Technical Manuals) for the "LO" (Lube Order).

Yessir, wet testing means with a squirt of oil. Yeah, possible worn rings - but your problem doesn't really indicate that's the problem. Unless you tear it down and find a "crunch mark" on top of a piston on the side, I doubt it would be that close. Based on the readings you took earlier...

Lookin Good!
Yessir, hustling a set of 395's will work you just a bit. At my age, I do one then go take a sit down break - then go at it again - sometimes a day later.

Welcome to the Outfit!
Looking forward to you being here and posting pics of the mods you plan to do. You might consider changing the fluids in your gearboxes before you get on the road. And, considering that you are going to drive your M1079 to Alaska, you might should consider changing...

Well... That would suck. But at least you are on a path.
So, I guess you will be shopping for a replacement power plant if the reading comes back way below the other cylinders? Might even be worth looking at a @Mogman post about his installation of his "DuraVee"...
