Boredom project, LB7 dirtymax turbo on a 6.2

My super-low compression 1987 6.2 would explode at every seam with that kind of pressure. Glad you diagnosed it. Sorry to hear of blown seals, but it's part of the process. It is very interesting following this thread and I'll join those who thank you for sharing this. (Fun side note, I have...

You got your heater on in Arizona???

I hope you're wrong Juan, as I'm sure other are. But it's hard to say. AMG has several military contracts worth millions over time, but they are finite and often re-bid and Oshkosh is a substantial competitor for sure for new contracts. With HMMWV service life extensions in progress at least...

Yikes! I ordered three things today from them. I guess it's a wait and see then... BDGR

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Ordered a take-out Turbo Motor and Transmission. Going to swap out the very tired 6.2L and 3L80. I'll keep folks posted. BDGR

Graves Mountain Rally (Virginia), Labor Day Weekend 2020

I recall seeing a video or picture of one of the members loading a jeep in a 5-ton a couple years ago, if memory serves. Certainly plenty of room there, I'll vouch for that. BDGR

    1991 HMMWV overheating

I've had similar thoughts, either a rubber balded fan or electric. The fan system is mentioned far too many times on this Site as a point of failure and we've all had to work on ours, or so it seems. Glad mine still works! BDGR

    Graves Mountain Rally Buy-Sell-Trade

I'll bring the HMMWV cargo cover bows I've had listed for free here along with me. Anyone wants to speak up for them now I'll mark them for you and leave them at the CP. No soft slant back kits this year (though I never actually sold one at the Rallies). My shop is closed as the house sold and...

    Humvee Rear driveshaft

Sounds good. I'll put in a plug for AAA. The plans vary in service and cost, but mine will tow me up to 50 miles to the destination of my choice. Came in handy when I broke toe rear u-joint of my front propellor and it ground into my t-case while towing my trailer two years ago. Probably...

    1991 HMMWV overheating

The fan is not loud when it engages at idle. When clutched in it turns at engine speed, so the "jet taking off" sound we often describe it tied to high idle, i.e. driving along the road. If you've verified it indeed clutches in, then at least that part is working. There are threads here...

    Humvee Rear driveshaft

Agree with the above. It can be done yes, but it is a stopgap, not meant for distance or routine use that way. BDGR

    3D Printed Door Wire Guides

Not my first time noticing you. We've posted back and forth before and I respect your work. I've printed a couple of things, and am still hoping I can come up with something to market for HMMWVs or other MV that will help me offset the cost of my commercial machine. Not that I have to, I just...

    3D Printed Door Wire Guides

Look pretty nifty. Great use of a printer. I am slowly making more plans to use mine around the house and Humvee. (I should, it cost enough!) Bulldogger

    AM General parts website

A wander through their pages shows me that prices vary as compared to other sources we are more used to. We can tell from this that markups from other vendors also vary, sometimes significantly! BDGR

Wow! Thanks Coug! The wiring harness I almost bought last week on eBay is almost half price on the AMG site. And WooHoo, 4L80E shifters for $460. You rock man! Bulldogger

    What goes here?!

I'm pretty sure all the hoses and plenums in my 1987 M998 leak like sieves, so my truck takes forever to get hot air to my legs. I could seal the cab a lot better I know. I have to explain to anyone who rides in it during winter that coats are kept ON in the truck and warm boots are...

    What goes here?!

Oooo fancy. My M998 just has a vent hose sticking down from under the dash. BDGR

    Members in Northern Virginia?

Another callout for a recommended garage skilled enough to swap a HMMWV powertrain; 6.2L 3L80 to 6.5Turbo 4L80E. I've what looks like a good source for a frame cut complete Turbo powertrain and no-one to install it. The ones I've talked to have declined, politely, so I'm still searching...

    Replacement turn signal cancel ring

Could the thick posts be printed thin and sleeved internally with AL or Brass tube? I confess, I've never seen one in person so I'm spitballing. BDGR

    Replacement turn signal cancel ring

Wow, $45 each at Kascar, higher from others. I can definitely make them WAAAAAAAAY cheaper than that, even using quality made fiber reinforced ABS. BDGR
