Is there any way to set the clearance on the countershaft while it is in the truck? The TM drawings make me think when I pull the countershaft cover off it will expose the shims. No hole in the cover to use as a way to test this end play. Is the only way...
Need some transfer case advice here. Closest thread I could find.
Feels to me like I can move the emergency brake drum up and down like it has play. Not just in and out. I took it all apart to change the seal and found the shims etc. on the output retainer. I read the TM and it seems to say...
On my old deuce all of the shafts I have found have one wide tooth so you can't screw up the phasing. At least I don't think so.
I wanted to ask it sounds like these newer trucks don't have that? Seems like a simple fail-safe solution to me.
Maybe you already have but if not you could check out Eastern Surplus. They are a supporter of the site and located not too far from your area. If you search you will see they have new and used options available in that size. You probably could choose the tires you want if you went over there...
I cannot recall the correct air pressure setting but I feel like it is around 120 psi. If your compressor is charging higher than that on the in-cab gauge then try installing another gauge somewhere to check your reading. If it goes too high the governor might be the problem.
If you have a...
There is a spacer on the transmission side that is about 1" long. Maybe some trucks have it left out?
Possible different styles of the transmission output seal retainer?
Since knowledgeable people are looking at this thread: My jackshaft had two small weld beads on the inside where the vent...
I can get you this number tonight if no one else get's it sooner. I have the jackshaft out of the truck. Easiest measurement to provide for me would be face of pinion flange to face of pinion flange. Jackshaft is disassembled right now so can't measure that.
Thank you for this information. I have not yet tried to break down one of these tires. I have the tools and hopefully an old timer neighbor can help me and give out some pointers.
Based on the way the spare rims I received were rusted I figure they will be a very hard time to break down and...
Might be the case. All the tires were deflated when I recieved them. Personally I think they were left out in the rain this way and water sits on the rim and gets in the split area.
I am by means no expert on this.
Truck came with a bunch of crappy spares when I bought it. Most were deflated...
I used a shipping guy I found thru the service that Govplanet has. It worked out OK. Wasn't cheap but saved me the trip over there. They tack on a pretty good charge for their services but once you find a guy you can avoid all that.
Guys name is Blaise. 615-389-4590. Best price I could easily...
This thread could go on for a long time based on others...
I tried 50W Mobil Synthetic made for manual transmissions and my 1970 M35A2 did not like it. Tough to shift.
Switched to an ISO150 (~40W) straight non-detergent gear oil type product we use at work for stamping press recirculating lube...
Been wanting to ask for a while now. Does the governor on an LDT limit the maximum RPM of the engine? From reading different threads here it does sound like it is supposed to. I have not tested nor do I want to test it just curious to know if this was a built in protection feature.
