Ferro, that's one cool MV. I can't wait to see that beast at D-town. Woo Woo! Make way for the SS Express.

    Getting ready for road trip

That looks like a crate of BII on the passenger seat. You might be in luck and have an air hose, jack, lug wrench, etc on hand already. Looks like a great truck! Have fun on the recovery. Half the fun of joining the MV club is the excitement of picking up your new truck. CDL? It varies state...

    Dallas Texas HMMWV

Some guy in FL sells titles for $800? And you're worried about a bonded title? I'm not sure what you mean, please explain the "some guy" titling process, it may be helpful to a member in the future.

Got a new deuce, have some questions from under the truck.

I may have a spare inspection cover. I'll see if the cover I'm thinking of fits that area. It's yours if it's the right one.

    Biomethane generation through anaerobic digestion

While I admit the title of the story made me giggle, the idea of biomethane did spark a serious thought or two. I'm not going to start relieving myself in the tank of my deuce quite yet, but I wonder if this may be a viable do-it-yourself fuel source in the future...

    1997 M116A3 trailer

IMO the cut up hitch and missing surge brake bring the price down. The wheels probably add value, but narrow the pool of buyers. I'd say roughly $500-$600 without the wheels. I found a stock M101A3 for sale right now in CA for $750.

planes at a fly in South Carolina

Love that C-46. It looks a little worn, paint is kind of faded, like it's just coming off a mission flying the hump.

    M813-A1 Question

Leg room, head room, cab width and seat size are the same. The cab is actually interchangeable between the M44 2.5 series trucks and the M809 5 ton series trucks. You might feel a little more room between driver and steering wheel, I think the deuce steering wheel has a larger diameter than the...

Patrick, Welcome and thanks for responding. I certainly respect a dealer that addresses complaints in an online forum. You sure didn't have to. I don't mind paying a little extra for quality customer service. I hope you intend to be regular visitor to steelsoldiers.

    Portrayal Press: Jeep Publications

I got that catalog as well. A few of the books caught my eye, but when I went to their website most prices were higher than listed in the catalog. The few books I liked are cheaper elsewhere. The fact that their brand new Jeep book catalog didn't even get prices right turned me off, and I even...

Official 2014 SS Georgia Rally Info SSGR14 thread

I'll take cold any day over GA heat, but I'm a northern fella (dam yankees:D). Another factor to consider is the time change, don't set the rally past 1 NOV. This early darkness is throwing me off...

    WWII Antenna "Shape"

German tactics were based on a lot of factors, but don't misunderstand me. The Wehrmacht led the way early on when it came to air-ground integration. Conditions were right for the Luftwaffe for a significant part of the war. Long-lasting air supremacy or air superiority permitted the Luftwaffe...

    WWII Antenna "Shape"

The antenna was fixed in place. It didn't flip up or anything like that. It's a high-frequency (HF) antenna, commonly referred to as a "frame" or "cage" antenna. There were multiple variations depending on the vehicle, but ultimately the Germans made great use of HF throughout the war for both...
