There are multiple types of speakers that connect in different ways. But one LS-671 powered loud speaker per RT is the most common for a vehicle configuration. Mounting base port J3 for RT A, J4 for RT B.
The machinery and tooling likely does not exist. Tooling and machinery for many weapons systems were put into long term storage during and after the war, but as time progressed and the old weapons became even more obsolete the government purged the items in storage. As the tooling was cleaned...
That HMMWV was cannibalized and/or suffered some other unpleasant non-Airborne demise. If it burned in on a airdrop the fiberglass hood would certainly be splintered; overall it would look far worse. Just look at the photo of what was an M37. It looks like the hood was just removed then set back...
Great write up. This is what tutorials on SS should look like.
I wish I had seen this years ago before I figured it all out. Of course I'm still learning, I might try taking a little material out of the center so the female connector fits. Good tip!
I purchased a "used" AF-8 in a nice case...
That picture is a concept M38 ambulance. The Army toyed with the idea but they never went in to production. I'm not sure if any survive, but if so they would be EXTREMELY rare. I've never seen a photo of a LWB CJ2a.
The Army doesn't usually provide service records with vehicles. If you happen to find some paperwork in your vehicle count yourself lucky. Don't expect to get service records with a surplus vehicle.
Cut off lunette, rusted bed, hard to tell but the lights are probably cut and non-original... I'd offer scrap value. I just don't get why people chop these trailers up. It's cheaper and easier just to adapt your hitch, change the bulbs and wire up a light plug adaptor.
I'd say it depends on your skills. I've been looking for an affordable M416 for awhile, but I have zero welding skills so repairing isn't an option. If you can weld with minimal effort I'd say go for it. Is it just the tub that's rusted out and the rest is original?
I joined SS around the same year this thread was born, but I would have been in then same group only by a few days had I voted then. Time sure seems to move fast...
They got 80 of them decades ago. Sure some of those F-14s are still flying... barely. There's plenty of info available on the state of the Shah's equipment. We don't have to worry much about the F-14s that are still hanging on. They made a decent showing fighting the Iraqis, but they're just...
Contrary to popular belief we're pretty careful about leaving the good stuff. A lot of people spend a lot of time accounting for everything that matters. Sure we make mistakes and bad decisions, but the retrograde from Iraq was hardly like the embassy in Saigon in '75. The hoards weren't...
It was bound to happen. Good thing they're base model M1A1's. They don't have all the options ours do. I wonder where they're getting training and parts? Oh yea, they're not. Sure, they'll figure out how to run it and maybe they can feed it captured ammo. Rest assured even the best Iraqi...
