What did you do to your deuce this week?

I don't want to get political, but I'm curious... I'm not aware of any laws restricting the number of trucks you can own. Unless it was a matter of too many derelict trucks on his property. What's the story here?

Are parts of the future MV hobby dying?

I didn't know the media took this and ran with it until Al posted. I had to search for the tie-in to our hobby. One source for the news referenced above is here: http://video.foxnews.com/v/4297278346001/shocking-items-available-on-ebay/?intcmp=watchnow#sp=show-clips&v=4297278346001 I'll keep...

    Alaska Track Association

There was a nice Aktiv snow-trac on the west side of the Steese at Chena Hotsprings rd just outside of Fairbanks. It was usually sitting on a trailer or parked in the yard. I lived off of Chena Hotsprings Rd just east of the Steese so I drove by it everyday. I always wanted to see it in action...

    actual speed of deuce

Did everyone forget about cheap accurate handheld GPSs? You don't need a phone, smart or otherwise. Just buy a cheap used handheld Garmin, Magellan, etc GPS. It'll give you accurate speed and log your trip. No subscription, no fees, no apps, and no cloud involved. One time cost (plus AA batteries).

Largest Gathering of WWII American Halftracks in the USA!

Very cool. I grew up in the area and went to Eastern Michigan in Ypsi, but unfortunately I don't live in the area. I won't make it back to MI in Aug but I passed the info to my Dad. Thanks for posting.

Where are all the HMMWVs going?

I'd argue most HMMWVs were NOT armored or up-armored. Most TDAs and TOEs still authorize unarmored HMMWVs. Prices are dropping? Maybe at auction, but the HMMWVs I see for sale from private owners are not much below pre-govplanet prices. The only difference is now most don't have a title.

    Hello everybody from Germany

I flew into and out of Rhein-Main a few times before it closed in '05. I assume you mean Sachsenhausen museum and memorial? I didn't make it there, but I did visit Dachau. I'll never forget it.

    Hello everybody from Germany

Welcome from Augusta, Georgia! It's nice to see another German steel soldier in our midst. We all like to see and hear about how old US military steel is preserved and appreciated around the world. I lived in Mannheim for a couple of years and visited Frankfurt many times. You have a beautiful...

    Bumper markings

I don't see a problem with it. In fact, I prefer more accurate HMVs. I don't have bumper numbers on any of my current vehicles just because I don't feel the need right now. But when I had a 5 ton I painted the markings of the 5 ton I "owned" when I commanded a company. My former company was and...

Deuce tail roller and bed winch, skid loading setup

Completely different direction, but do you have a drop side? One of our SS members in Germany built a phenomenal shelter loading system with legs. He could just raise the shelter and back the under the shelter. Looks like great design, much less wear and tear on everything involved but a more...

Is import of HMMWV in to the U.S. allowed?

I don't see why a 25+ year old HMMWV is any different than any other vehicle over 25 years old that doesn't meet FMVSS, EPA, DOT standards. They're exempt after 25 years for the purposes of importation and generally exempt around 25 years +/- in most states as long as they're tagged accordingly...

Is import of HMMWV in to the U.S. allowed?

There is so much incorrect information out on the inter webs about the legalities of HMMWV ownership that you can never be sure what you read is true. There are even myths being perpetuated in this very thread. Bottom line, check with US customs and with the state you plan on making home. My...
